Today i bought sets of dishes, silverware, and other mundane but necessary stuff! Now i am sitting by the pool(by myself!) enjoying a drink! :-) Btw, the pool looks narrow but is 10' wide and 50' long!

Ferrar, the house i bought was owned by American couple 'who had restored it. The title was clean but you are right there is no title insurance in Mexico so it is imperative you get a attorney who is well versed in title searches and thoroughly researches the propertie's archives. As happened to one very sucessful beach restaurant here which had bought a beachside building and over 5 years turned it into one of the most popular places, and then one day a guy showed up and said "i am a grandson and one of the heirs and you do not have my signature on the property deal so i am taking it back!" And he did! They lost tge place! So it is definitely a case of buyer bewear!

I don't know about you Tom, but since we talked about some of the challenges of foreign purchases, including potential inexistence of Title Insurance, I have gotten a number of PM's about how I dealt with that in Brazil. Another challenge to purchasing here: the inexistence of Escrow Accounts! So you either have to: open your own account here (tough to do if you're not a resident), trust the seller and just wire the funds directly (good luck with that), bring your funds down (not recommended), massively use the local ATM's (if you have lots of time, like months, to spare and are preferibly in the trusted company of good security), or directly negotiate with (and trust) the seller's bank not to release funds until all purchase requirements have been met. For your Mexico purchase, were you able to use some type of Escrow arrangement to get funds to the seller?

Congratulations Tom on the follow-through to a successful closing. Navigating foreign bureaucracies can be tough and definitely not for the faint of heart! But once executed there ain't nothing like having your own place somewhere you truly want to be.

@M2Sexy : Costa Rica can be pricey and that has definitely been reported in this forum. However, "expensive" is in the eye of the beholder. If you want an close guestimate of what the locals charge internet using tourists just visit backpages for those countries. 100-120 Sol an hour in Peru may be a rip off for some people but it translates to about 30-35 USD, well within normal Latin American range, and in my opinion is a steal! It also depends on the type of guy you want to play with as there is a market for everything This forum is a great launching off point however, always do your own research. I actually got the courage to travel more from reading the reports on this forum so I always try to help others who are looking for information. http://peru.backpage.com/MaleEscorts/ @Tomcal : Congrats once again on making such a stupendous discovery! May we all get to live the retired life in such style

@M2Sexy : Who told you that! Guys can ask for whatever they want, it doesn't mean that's what they'll receive. As Tomcal said, I'm sure that someone is asking for that much in CDMX, I've never seen it though
