  1. @sanddunes Speaking about post-brazil depression... It is the reason why i quitted my job in Italy, picked up my bag and bought a one way ticket to Rio where i have found my current job. Never done a better choice.

    Cuba, May 2018

I'll weigh in here. Las Vegas is fun, but was closed for renovations the last time I went, so I'm not sure what it will be like now. A few doors down on the corner is Restaurante Toke, a small restaurant with a gay theme (rainbow flag flown), that happens to face all the street trade that gathers on that corner or in front of Club Las Vegas. If you grab a seat in the front (outside) the restaurant, the guys will cruise you nonstop, hoping to make some money, be invited to sit down for a beer, or be invited into the club when it opens. Bimbom was closed both times I visited, so I assume it is gone. Same for a rumored hotspot called Club Myxto...I found the place, but it was closed and looked like it had been that way for a while. There is a small park around the corner from Club Las Vegas and Toke where lots of the guys gather, because it is one of the few wifi hotspots. Lots of guys hang out in that park, offering sex, massage, blowjobs, whatever. It's on the corner of Calle O and Calle 25. I found the beach Mi Cayito and the surrounding dunes fun, but the crowd was pretty small and tame. There is a stand that is run by the government that fronts on the beach (so you are renting your umbrella and chair directly from a park ranger, basically). Although they seem to have a pretty laid-back attitude about what goes on, that is totally dependent on the people actually working that day, and the last time I visited, one of the guys was standing around glaring at everyone, so it kind of put a damper on things (along with the high winds, which were blowing the sand so hard that it actually stung). Don't go in expecting a packed party beach like Los Muertos in Puerto Vallarta or any of the beaches in Rio, and you will still have fun. There were always a few guys standing around trying to make money providing massages, or taking guys into the dunes, but I found the working guys average, so I never hired anyone there. Ask any of the boys in front of Toke/Club Las Vegas which nights to go to which clubs. If I remember, it's Club Las Vegas on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Bar Karabali on Fridays, and Proyecto Divino on Saturdays. Bar Karabali does not have a sign in front, at least nothing that says Karabali. It is on La Rampa (lower end of Calle 23, near the Malecon) between Calles N and O, and I think the name on the front is Cafe Amor (it is BEHIND something that looks like a subway entrance, on the left side...NOT down the subway entrance...I had a friend make that mistake and sit in the underground jazz club waiting for me for 45 minutes before he realized it wasn't a gay bar, lol). To be clear: at each of these clubs, there really will be guys waiting in front, hoping that you will pay their cover and maybe buy them a drink. Cuba is a nation of face-to-face interactions. I hope you have fun.

  5. The LAMD or the Latin America Men and Destinations forum has always been a mainstay of the Boytoy family. When things got slow in other forums (fora?) we could count on interesting and friendly conversation to be had here. And it was ongoing, rarely pausing for distractions. But look lately and you might see "last post 6 hours ago" or even worse. I submit that it isn't because Latin America has suddenly become less interesting. Rather, I think our discussions have become less friendly. A trip report may be great reading for some, but others have to criticize the way a fellow poster enjoyed his vacation. Constructive criticism, new ideas, ways to enhance a vacation have always been welcome. But once too many it has become criticism that becomes personal. And it isn't just trip reports, it can even be because someone doesn't like the way another person posts, or hijacks a thread, or otherwise shows a lack of respect. Well, you might say, Lucky is no angel on any of this. I could differ all I want but if you really believe that it still becomes incumbent on me to monitor my posts so that they are friendly and informative. We have a great forum here. I want to be a part of it and I want the discussion to continue. A friendly discussion, yeah, that sounds right...

    The Sao Paulo diaries

Brazil's economy is in the pits. Many Brazilans cannot find a job. Most foreigners are prohibited by Brazilian law from working in Brazil. However, if a foreigner wants to work in Brazil, and if that same foreigner has an occupation considered vital to Brazil, the foreigner can usually and legally work in brazil. There are unusual instances around the vital requirement but exceptions are rare. Several years ago, Brazil allowed approximately 4,500 doctors from Cuba to work in Brazil. In fact, the Cuban doctors were encouraged to work in Brazil. Brazil was short on physicians. The Braziian government actually paid Cuba for the doctors to immigrate to Brazil to perform medical services. Bottom line - The poster who left Italy to work in Brazil must have a vital occupation in order for him to legally work in Brazil.

Ahhh West Hollywood, how I miss it so. As for Michael and his hot friends, I'd buy them all dinner and a round of drinks. I will say that a quick image search goes to a twitter page of a rather interesting SCRIBEMOON who mentions that the store is actually the Pleasure Chest, of which I had 'frequent flyer' miles there for years. That said...the purple strap on dildo in the background is a nice touch. https://twitter.com/SCRIBEMOON

Exactly - Looking back over the past year, it is easy to see that the U.S. dollar is exchanging quite favorably against Brazil's currency. - that tells you the U.S. dollar is strong and daily fluctuations don't markedly matter.

Bim bom got wiped out in last year’s hurricane. The storm surge flooded many buildings on the Malecon up to the first floor. I didn’t know that Las Vegas is closed also. It was open when I went in December...if you get a chance let us know its current status.

    Dollar Ups and Downs

The variance may have to do with the time of year of your trip....for the last 10 plus years that I have been traveling to Rio, the highest hotel and airline rates are during the Brazilian summer, the US winter... The same hotels and apartments that you are able to get for less than a hundred dollars a night or even less will be way above $100 per night come October, November and even higher right after Christmas into January and February (peak tourist season) The rates havent changed that dramatically over the last few years...I gauge it more on the cost of food, drinks, entertainment, and getting around-metro, uber, taxis... I would be more interested in the price was so great that it becomes like years ago when you could find a flight on the regular to Brazil for $500 US to Rio (without airlines running specials) Drinks still range from 5R to 10R depending on where you get it on the beach (and Lapa) and you can still get a decent meal for a few dollars depending on if you go where Cariocas go versus tourists...

  13. In Argentina the dollar just sky rocketed, and may go even higher, I will be using m credit card and buying small amounts of cash as I needed. Two years ago, when I visited my last time, the dollar was 15 pesos. Today is 25. The question is whether or nor inflation is catching up, specially escorts rates. I tell you in July.

Not terribly uncommon among the garotos ... Carlos a regular at 117 has to adjust hs topping due to a damaged knee secondary to MCA ... bur he still sends me to paradise. Tomasian's 'acquarium' Doug got badly cut up thrown from a MC a year ago. A major scar on his shoulder. I hope the infamous Rio green-eyed EuroBrasileiro club/netgay lad Gustavo keeps safe. I have seen him mount his very high-end MC with very fancy garb at the Gloria corner.

    This Forum Has Always Been...

Certainly in danger of being accused of hijacking this thread I feel compelled to comment on this diagram. I have never thought that a washing machine would have TWO motors in order to facilitate the agitation of clothes. I have never seen such and so far cannot find any reference that suggests such. Not that I am a washing machine expert. Far from it, merely a user a couple of times a week. However, machinery has and always will fascinate me. I always seek to know how it works. I think most modern washing machines use ONE motor with a transmission or clutch arrangement to agitate clothes. Regardless of all that, this forum seems to use many posters to agitate. Best regards, RA1

  18. I am a big fan of this show. I can't stand Rose Leslie's acting though. She is the one playing Maia Rindell. Everyone else is good, but there's something about her acting that i find off.

  21. I agree. I cannot wait to contribute more to this forum. On June 19th I am departing to Argentina. The beginning of my trip will be in an inner country, conservative province (state) capital, and I do not expect much interesting in the first weeks. But on July 13th I am arriving to Buenos Aires and planning to have fun. I hope to add to the common knowledge with a few informative posts.

  22. I had a stye there last year. It got worse when I let it go. Went to walk-in Galdino Campos clinic near you. He prescribed hot compresses, drops, and bedtime ointment from nearby pharmacy. It took about 60 minutes. It stabilized then cleared. If you neglect it, you may need lancing later. I paid for the MD with credit card, did not bother to claim on travel medical ins. The doctor does the immigrn physicals at CDN embassy for visa applicants. Too much hot ass sitting on my face.

  23. I went yesterday to Thermas... Few clients (but three gentlemen chatting in English about how much they liked Rio!) and a good number of GP. Some Spaniards, by the way. I first met a young man from Senegal. Senegalese men are tall, with a naturally athletic complexion and very well mannered. I liked him a lot, beautiful hairless body and face. I met then a husky guy from Santo Domingo, a nice muscled snd handsome young man, good kisser and better fucker. I met also just for chatting a Brazilian guy of Japanese descent, whom I went for sex last year. Now he remains in Barcelona as a Medicine student. A nice experience, certainly, and hope to come over today again Epi
