  1. @mrb43 DUDE there's seriosly no need to bring this endless thing about price, up again since many people of this forum act and think the exact opposite of what you wrote. Pay whatever you want if that makes you feeling happier, or a better person or whatever. The only sure thing about the prices question is that the newbies MUST know that what won't change at all (for now) is that most of the guys in Rio will go for 100 starting from 150. Most of the guys in Sao Paulo will not go below 120. Negotiation is something the guys are expecting and no...paying the garoto 10 times what he would normally ask, will not bring you a better performance and will just result in the guys around you, setting that rate as the standard they must ask to you. And frankly the only unattractive thing here is the fact that there are new guys on this forum with little to no contributions, who judge what other users write (including the results of their negotiations with escorts) to keep the forum alive and a reliable source of info for those who are new to latin american paid sex scenarios.

  2. I was bored today and looking at real estate in Rio. Overall Rio is expensive, but cheap compared to NYC or San Fran. An average 2 bedroom in Ipanema goes for around 1-1.5 million reals (beachfront and luxury buildings go for much more). Has anyone here bought property in Brazil? The dollar is pretty strong now.. I came across one dream property - I'm sure it costs millions, but it is amazing! I can only imagine how much fun it would be to invite a bunch of garotos to come hang out with you in the pool there

  3. I know a couple of guys that I met from the old board that bought houses in Rio....from my understanding they did really well on their investments. One of them tore the house down and built from scratch....rented it out for 1000 usd per day and more during the Olympics, World Cup and some other event. Tomcal knows more about these guys current affairs than I do....I think one even bought a few penthouses and converted them into several apt's...or something like that.

    Brazil Questions

With respect to safety. A month or so, ago, I posted instructions how to download a Brazilian app to an American smart phone. The app is a Rio de Janeiro app and it sends smart phones (where ever the phone is) a message each and every time a shooting is reported to the local police in Rio. The app is intended for Brazilians but it is accessible to anyone in most parts of the world. The app signals at least once each hour. That is a lot of shootings reported. Not all shootings are in favelas. The time and address of each shooting shows in the app signal. To install the app on Android, go to the Play store and enter OTT (onde Tem Tiroteio) - The app is free. The app can also be install on an IPhone. I think if you install this app and see the locations shown where the shootings occur, you will know to be cautious while in Brazil. I am not saying you should not go to Brazil or that you should go there in fear. I am saying that there is crime and you should be cautious. On your comment about your liking to have a kitchen and all, you never know what kind of apartment you will get when renting in Brazil. Some apartments are quite nice but many are quite shabby and/or are in bad neighborhoods. Considering this is your first trip and you are there only one week, you might want to consider a hotel and check out possible apartment facilities for your next trip. As to meeting guys on dating apps in Brazil, it is fairly easy to do. Just be careful when you communicate if you do not know Portuguese. Translating apps are good but they are not always helpful for meeting a garoto from an app. Saunas are safe and practical, especially for a first time visitor. Sorry for being negative about Brazil. I love Brazil but you are a new traveler to Brazil and I think you should be aware that the reports about Rio being dangerous are true. Plain and simple.

I just felt it would have been awkward asking them to do this in full view of others, when they are sitting there with you in the bar. As a newbie, I wasn't sure if this would have been considered acceptable. Tomasian - yes he was circumcised. camsi75 and Floridarob - well, I did try, I guess I just have a very low pain threshold.

Well I did say it is my 2nd visit. Also, I am a 6ft, muscular, 35yo black man who s lived in Devlopping countries before & grew up in the DC inner cities, and when not at work, I have an urban/hip hop swag. (Think rapper 50cent). Trust me, I have “developing country” smarts and people are usually intimidated by me, not the other way around. I am definitely moving forward with my plans on hooking up with gogo boys. I do appreciate advice on this though. I understand one can never be totally safe from violence nor from being a victim of a hustle.

A sauna provides enough thrills for a newbie, go go boys out of the sauna ambient is more appropriate for a seasoned explorer, same with street-trade, sleep overs and even Grindr if you a clueless about the city, unless you are staying for a considerable amount of time, otherwise leave these other activities for a second visit. Regarding Lagoa boys there are a few threads here, the key words are obviously Lagoa and Sao Paulo on the title.

    Rio de Janeiro Real Estate

Nowadays you can easily watch your property live through the internet anywhere on Earth and record the thieves disarming your equipment. On the other hand people always find a way to overpass the most advanced system at banks everywhere and every once in a while somebody steals a Van Gogh or something, wondering if a refrigerator is worth a repeated action.

    Brazil Questions

    Google Translate would be the best one to use, as others have suggested. The microphone feature is pretty good to use if you guys are tired of typing out responses. It helps if both of you enunciate the words, or if you type, make the sentences simple so the translations don't come out weird. BUT, the best thing that happened to me last trip was when my cellphone battery died, and I was forced to communicate in Portuguese with my companion. It did wonders for my confidence in speaking the language and after that I did not use Google Translate as much. Of course I've been taking lessons so it was probably just the kick in the butt I needed to not rely on GT as a crutch in order to communicate. There are a lot of AirBNB Rio options, especially the Ipanema and Copacabana ones with a lot of reviews from usually Gringos, that are great. They usually have a doorman who act as security so these AirBNBs are pretty safe. The price is usually fair, and it is usually in a residential-ish touristy area that has a lot of spots you want like restaurants, markets and easy access for Uber. But for a newbie, I'd suggest the relative comfort and security of a hotel, especially if you are not comfortable with the city yet, and especially concerned about safety. You will have (mostly) english-capable staff that can help you orient yourself with the area, as well as have the safety infrastructure (security checking ID's, safes in the room, cameras everywhere) you may need for your own peace of mind. No clue, I had my BF as my first guide. But Viator has a lot of private tours that may have what you need: https://www.viator.com/Rio-de-Janeiro/d712-ttd#{"listSpec"%3A{"sortBy"%3A"001"%2C"layout"%3A"grid"}%2C"filterSpec"%3A{"selections"%3A[{"name"%3A"groupId"%2C"value"%3A"26"}]%2C"availabilityRange"%3A{"from"%3A""%2C"to"%3A""}}%2C"currency"%3A"USD"%2C"destinationId"%3A"712"}

My debates between hotels and Airbnb is not about safety or guest policy. It is more about the quality of the room/apartment. 3/4 star hotel have clean white towels, white sheets, pillow and duvet, whereas Airbnb may give you dark color towels and sheets etc. Some are well worn. I always wonder how clean or how new these dark brown towels are. One time I rented an Airbnb apt in Sao Paulo. There was an awful smell of urine near or under or inside the bed, what can you do? NOTHING. You can not take a picture of urine smell and send to airbnb, can you? But if you are at a hotel, you can certainly go down to front desk and resolve the issue. And don't forget about bed bugs, hotels have professional team to deal with this kind of issue, I doubt individual airbnb host ever bother to check for bed bugs. In addition, airbnb don't give you the exact address until you confirm and pay for the booking. Well... one block difference can be heaven and earth in some cities. And I could never understand why they won't show address as part of listing. Perhaps to avoid some legal issues? So why would I participate in a businesses in the dubious borderline legality? To me, the only advantage for Airbnb is price. If I want to stay in an area where hotels are much more expensive than airbnb , I will choose airbnb. But since airbnb has becoming quite popular, their price are mostly in line with the hotels in certain touristy cities.

  25. Americans buying Real Estate in Brazil - don't do it! I started visiting Brazil about fifteen years ago. Like most Americans, I was taken in by the lifestyle and the fascinating garotos. So much that I visited Brazil every other month for the first few years I began visiting Brazil. Sometimes I visited more often. One day I decided to take the advice of several Americans who had purchased condos in Brazil. I looked for and finally found a condo I liked and I bought it. After making an offer, I had to apply for and get a CPF number to furnish to the real estate company and to whomever needed the number to record me as the new owner. Buying real property in Brazil was probably the dumbest thing I ever did. After being ripped off by three different supposed “contractors” to remodel the condo (which they only did partially and badly), I was finally able to move in. I bought furniture and settled into a fairly nice condo. However, I had to return to the U.S. every month or so because of other commitments I had. The first time I returned to the Brazilian condo after being gone about one month, the refrigerator, the stove, the television and other furniture had been stolen from my condo. This was despite there being a 24-hour guard on the front door of the building. After replacing the stolen items, I moved back to the condo. After a few weeks, I again returned to the U.S. and I returned only to find more furniture stolen from the condo. I replaced the stolen items only to have them stolen yet a third time. That was it. I decided an absentee occupant of a condo in Brazil was not workable. I immediately returned to a hotel and put the condo up for rent and/or for sale. The "return on my investment" is negative, big time. The price of real estate in Sao Paulo has not gone up like is inaccurately implied in these forums. My condo is worth less than one-third of what I paid for it (not counting the multiple thefts of furniture and the dead beat tenants that did not pay their rent or the fake contractors who got me to advance money for remodeling they did not do). Not only is it a hassle as a part-time occupant having a condo in Brazil. Each month there are condo fees, utilities, door men to pay (24 hour services). Worse though is the fact that Americans who do not own a business in Brazil cannot legally open a checking account even to pay their condo bills. You cannot pay condo fees and other condo related expenses with credit cards. Having no Brazilian bank account means repeated trips to an ATM machine to get cash to pay the condo and other expenses. No, owning a condo in Brazil as a part time resident is not something I recommend or am happy about doing. Nope, hotels are fine for me -

  26. A few hundred nights? Wow you're a baller TotallyOz. It's a fabulous hotel and the location is amazing. And the staff didn't seem to mind my guests either, as security didn't even bat an eye and no one even checked for ID. Yeah i never do it bare with sex workers ever, no matter how hot one is. With non-working guys, its a matter of instinct for me. I don't do it for everyone, but when I do it its special, and always worth it. Always came out of it still negative, fingers crossed. It's a calculated risk for me, and the PrEP I'm sure does help. I wouldn't recommend this behavior to anyone. My sexual health, my responsibility. But if one can get access to PrEP, get on it! The BF and I are on PrEP, and we have been asked by some friends if we could import some into Brazil for them. It's still expensive in the USA, but Thailand seems to have cheaper PrEP. I wonder how they get it that cheap... SP Pride will be a goal for me next year. All the photos from friends of the parade and parties had me envious. I am curious then, are the saunas super busy during Pride? Overflowing Cabinas? More garotos than customers? Too many customers?

I have had bad luck at times with the banging/construction issue at many apartments and even hotels in Brazil and elsewhere. I likewise like to sleep late on vacation and I think this is a worthwhile thing to inquire on when renting an apartment or booking a hotel. In some cases when I mentioned the construction noise to the apartment host they replied "oh that just started today--sorry."

    Rio trip April/May 18

Part 2 Thermas Lagoa - went on a Sunday Thermas Lagoa teaming with garotos on the Sunday I visited. I can be a bit indecisive so it was hard to pick someone but I eventually settled for a hot black guy in his early/mid thirties who spoke good English. It was nice having a conservation with him as none of the other garotos seemed to speak a word on English. He mentioned that he was married and had a daughter (WTF??). He had an incredible physique (told me he was a personal trainer). I ask him if he kisses, and he then proceeded to give me a minute long demonstration which was amazing. I decided to go with him straight away. So we're in one of the rooms. It's grotty with stained walls, and just seems dirty. The mattress seems badly used and abused and I notice this sticky, wet patch on the bed sheet – totally grosses me out. All of a sudden the garoto disappears leaving me confused trying to work out why he's left. Minutes later he's back with a bunch of towels which he carefully spreads across the bed - kinda sweet of him. We start off with kissing, and he sucks my tongue as if was it cock - felt incredible. We the try 69 with him on top of me. I cum in his mouth (in a condom). Totally worth the 180 I paid him (30 tip). Next experience was a 6ft 2 hairy muscle stud, with short, dark hair and brown skin. He was very masculine (clearly a straight guy) with a sexy deep voice – wanted 150 – I agreed. After having sealed the deal, it dawned on me that over the last few days, I had been living out my ultimate fantasy – having sex with straight guys. This hunk had a really nice cock in terms of it size and shape (curved upwards slightly). I decided with some trepidation to have a go sucking it without a condom. So as I retracted the foreskin and moved closer to his cock, I caught a whiff of him - and let's just say this was real turn off. As with all the other garotos I have hired, it again became clear that penetrative sex wouldn’t work with this guy and he somehow sensed I wanted to be fucked but didn't want him inside me (weird how these guy's can just read your mind). So he then sort of simulated sex by sliding his cock back and forth in between my buttocks – this felt weird at first but it was hot looking at him in action with his bulging muscles thrusting away in the mirrors (on the walls on ceilings).

I think that there is no difference between an apartment and hotel in terms of safety unless you are bringing someone back to your room--which I would probably avoid on your first trip. Many hotels may not allow guests at all once you check in anyway--so have fun in the saunas. On my first trip I found a hotel a better place to stay only because of the fact that there was usually an english speaking person at the reception to give advice about taxi's, attractions, the metro, etc. Once I got the lay of the land after my first trip I started using apartments which I really prefer.

  37. Day 1: Sao Paulo Back home people always ask me: why would one ever go to Sao Paulo? What is there? Isn't Rio the place where everyone goes to? I had the same misgivings about Sao Paulo, even if it was the first Brazilian city I've ever visited (last December). Rio is stunning with its natural beauty and unique laid-back atmosphere for sure, but after being impressed with Bogota and how metropolitan and cultured it is (and how different it was from the natural beauty and laid-back atmosphere of the Colombian caribbean coast in Cartagena), I was eager to appreciate Sao Paulo as a city with similar charms. Rio can have its beaches for now. I was ready to discover, for the second time, the more buttoned-up Sao Paulo. Its time to hangout with Jackie Kennedy, after having fun with Marilyn Monroe. I took a Biz class Avianca flight (booked through miles) from LAX to Bogota. It’s only a 6 hour and 15 minute flight, and by the time food service arrives, I'll only have about 4 hours of sleep, even with the lie-flat seats. I wait at what must be the largest Star Alliance lounge I've ever been at, take photos of the tarmac while waiting at the terrace: Sent some photos to my 22-year-old Nordestino friend from Salvador who will be joining me in Sao Paulo, to tell me I am on my way, and he promptly posts those photos on Instagram (sans my face thank god). He must be excited. Pretty soon I board my flight. We are given these pretty nice Tumi amenity kits: The food service comes and goes, I pop in two Advil PMs, recline completely, and sleep... to be woken up by the flight attendant to ask me if I wanted breakfast. I slept pretty soundly. I muttered out an annoyed "Si!" and got situated. Used my Amenity kit to freshen up as we head over to Bogota airport. The airport is still familiar of course, having just left it about 11 days prior. The Avianca boarding was a shit show and the gate changed twice, as panicked people ran back and forth the massive El Dorado International in Bogota. This is unfortunately a common feature of this airport. We finally boarded. Another Tumi amenity kit. I didn’t even bother with food service. I reclined fully and went to sleep, wanting to be fresh for Sao Paulo. But in reality, how does one sit still when Brazil is on the horizon. My mind was racing with the possibilities of the week. I watch "I, Tonya" to pass the time (good movie, Tonya Harding had a rough life). Pretty soon we get to Guarulhos. It took me 12 minutes to wait in line at immigration. The immigration had one question "Turismo?" To which I said "Sim!" Rushed through baggage claim because I only had carry-on with me. Turned on my roaming on my phone ($10 a day on AT&T International Day Pass). Got Uber to figure out where I was. Put "Intercontinental" and it found the Sao Paulo hotel. It showed that the journey was 48 minutes. I'm pretty sure with "muito transito" the journey will be longer. I always forget how big Sao Paulo is. I go up to the Departures level and looked for Check in counter D, since that was where one of the Uber stops were. The driver was already there when I get to the curb. I put my roller bag and backpack in the backseat with me. The driver confirms the address of our destination (Sim, obrigado), and then speeds away. The drive was pretty ordinary, though some trouble getting out of Guarulhos. So much traffic. An hour goes by and we get to the Intercontinental. $18 for the Uber ride. Taking advantage of my loyalty to IHG properties when I travel for work has its perks, and it meant cashing in a whole lot of points for this trip, I decided on the Intercontinental after staying at an AirBNB in Bela Vista with my BF the prior trip. My first companion for this trip is a budding body builder, and so before the trip he asked if my hotel had a gym. I always remember sex after the gym is always amazing, with muscles still swole from the workout, so I made sure I got a hotel that had a more than decent fitness facility. Post-gym sex for 3 days! Check-in was fine. Receptionist spoke english well. Made sure that my companion's name was in the reservation (it was). Got a double upgrade, which meant at least a suite. The room was lovely, got a pretty nice view of Sao Paulo, and, 10 minutes later, got my sweet amenity (they ask if you wanted the sweet or salty amenity) and some free water. Pretty pathetic amenity compared to other intercontinentals (in Europe there is at least always Champagne): When all was said and done it was 6:30 PM, which I guess is prime sauna time. It was a Friday, I'm in Sao Paulo, what should I do? I do the pathetic thing and fire up Grindr. It took a while but soon I get some messages. Got the typical Garoto offers: This one is asking for 300 reals - $80 (https://gustavo-goiano.webnode.com): Looks good, but too rich for me: This one was fine for 200 reals - $53, but only Ativo so it wont work for me (http://www.garotolandia.com.br/lucasnahad.html): But tonight, because I am too "preguicoso" to do anything because of the long flight, the pillow-top mattress, and the room service dinner I just ordered (Picadinho with risotto and some farofa, 65 reals - $18, with a free glass of wine), I just try to chat up some guys and see where it lead: After two hours of Grindr talking, eating my dinner, watching TV (NBA playoffs in Portuguese, not bad), I make plans with a 27-year-old Paulistano who lived near the Itaim Bibi area. I guess it’s a good sign that he asked if there was parking close to the hotel, which meant he had a car, which meant he was not going to charge me anything. He chose to Uber instead. When he got on his Uber, I got on the shower. Despite my best attempts, I was in danger of having sex in Brazil. It does not take a lot to get some here, and if you fail to land anything here, it is your own damn fault. Sex was fun. He bottomed, of course. Insisted on bare. I obliged. I was taking PrEP, so at least he was safe. He wanted to stay over. I told him I had to get up early so it was not a good idea. It was true. The Nordestino's flight got in at 6 AM tomorrow. Got to be up for this hottie from Salvador. But I failed tonight. No Lagoa. Sauna: 0 Laziness: 1

  40. If that were truly the case, then this portion of your statement was totally unnecessary: ”It’s also annoying to see the same garoto later with a local older/overweight/whatever client and thinking that they are charging that client less than me.“ Why would it bother you if an older or overweight client is charged less than you? It has already been discussed ad nauseum here that locals and long-time regulars get favored treatment. But being perturbed by favored treatment towards an older or fatter client seems to be coming from a personal place for you. Re: getting sex, you don’t have to prove to me or anyone that you can get it without paying. I couldn’t care less how you get it. My point is that, for a multitude of reasons, we sex tourists choose to pay for it. The WHY someone is paying versus why someone else might be is for each person to work out. What another client does, what a garoto does for or with that client, or what another client pays has little to do with me. Obsessing over that is pointless — unless one gets some odd self-esteem boost from knowing they get charged a few dollars less for a programa than some other guy.

    Rio trip April/May 18

Part 3 - Still in Sao Paulo So after a long tour of the city, I decided to check out Grindr. I found a hot garoto pretty much within two minutes of looking and agreed to meet him within an hour. I met him outside hotel entrance - he looked much older than on his pictures (looked to be in his 40s). We quickly walked past reception – no eye contact. Wasn’t stopped. Once in the room, he said he wanted a beer, I then told him that I would give him extra money to buy one later. He takes his clothes off – nothing to get excited about – the words “dad bod” come to mind. I ask him to take a shower which he does… and then lays on the bed. He can’t make himself hard – wants porn. Insisting on it. So I get my ipad pro out, put it on for him. Five minutes in to the “session” – he wouldn’t kiss as he promised he would (and actually I wouldn’t have wanted to do this, any way). Wouldn’t give me a blowjob as he promised he would. Out of frustration I just decided to end the session. I had put away my wallet in the safe, having kept 200reals in my pocket (the agreed fee) which I then took out to give him. He then says starts shouting loudly, “no 200 US dollars not reals”. As I argued with him, he got increasingly confrontational and loud to the point it felt unsafe. Then asks me to speak to someone on the phone (a woman) who says "you agreed 200 US dollars not reals… if you don’t give it, he will tell the police you raped him, and believe me you will be jailed. You have no idea what a brazilian jail is like". I ended the call. Obviously what she was saying was BS. But, in that moment, in that situation, I believed her. My convoluted thought process was along these lines - I figured the police would have to detain me if such an accusation is made at the very least. I remember thinking about the Me too movement, about Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey – that alleged rape victims views are now increasingly given primacy (and rightly so). I remember thinking my close friends and family would inevitably find out about my indiscretions in Brazil (I’m closeted). I asked to speak to the woman again and explained that I would have paid this amount but in reals but I simply didn’t have that money. She told me go to an "24 hour banco" to withdraw the money but felt that I would be walking into another scam at best or a dangerous situation at worst, so I told her I would just give him my smart watch. He then said "no I want your ipad". I just wanted him to leave so I gave it to him.

Since were on the subject, FWIW...I get the same emails, saying I haven't logged in for X number of days and I need to, and that I need to upload a photo for my avatar.

  43. The late, great Senator "Big Jim" Eastland of Mississippi, on meeting President Anwar Sadat of Egypt at a diplomatic reception remarked in surprise to a companion, "My God, the man's a N----r." The point being, of course, that American notions about race aren't particularly useful in Egypt. And not in Brazil either, I suspect. lol ???
