He chose to spend his money for this particular type of serviice Fellow Westerners frequently spend their money on things I deem frivolous: organic products, cigarettes, big cars. But it’s their money to do what they wish with it. My rationale doesn’t count. Yes, he could have made othe choices but its his time and his money.

  5. Hank, the rate for escort agencies in 2001 was 300 USD per hour or 2400 USD for overnight. If out of the area, transportation must be provided. I had friends in the business and they would be booked for two months in Dubai for 2400 a night. Long appointments needed an advance payment for some portion. When in NYC or LA, a private escort (not agency) will usually be over 200 and usually 300 USD per hour. Thailand is cheap but I do always think that I can often get for an overnight what I can for one hour in NYC and I often know the experience will be far superior.

    Palma de Mallorca

I go there regularly (as I have a place there). The best way I can describe Palma is as a mini-Barcelona. There’s great architecture, wonderful food and shopping, with lovely beaches and countryside. As you’re asking here @rodiem25 I guess you’re interested in meeting local guys. There are lots online and as long as you speak some Spanish, you should have no problems. There is a small sex-sauna (but AFAIK to meet other men, not working guys) and some working guys advertise on Hunq (the commercial part of Planet Romeo) and on Spanish sites.

I don’t think English is his first language. Thais overlook our mangled attempts at their language if we even go as far as to try to speak it. And they don’t call it gogglegook.

    Mexico this week

It is easy to be overcharged the way the system is set up, always check your bill after each order! Also if you buy one of guys who work a drink there, you are charged more for a watered down drink! Best to only buy them bottled beers!

  13. I was about 15/16 when I ran across The Front Runner on one of those wire spinner display racks at a local store. Just thumbing through the paperbacks, probably looking to see what SF was on offer. When I realized what I was reading, it electrified me right down to my toes. I had no clue gay themed novels were even a thing, much less soft core porn (not that it was soft core to me! ). God bless whatever sorting clerk at the distributor who accidently stuck a gay novel into the assortment shipped to that store. It was one of those events that helped me understand that the wider world was not necessarily just my local Bible soaked reality writ large. Maybe not exactly like Oz moving to NYC, but still eye opening.

  14. Thanks DivineMadman for all his work and posting. If massage was my thing, I would visit all of them and contribute, but it's not (currently about one massage per month). Varying massage skills have been brought up. There was one guy I liked in (forgot the name, long closed, underneath BTS Sala Daeng on Eastern side). His massage was poor, but he was my type. And in the course of one year of working there, his massage skills did not improve. Occasionally friends who do not work in massage give me massage, and usually good.

The Myanmar model? an election to keep the UN et al of its collective back, the appointment of a useful idiot who will toe the line (even if she has won the Nobel Prize) and the same policies as before, ensuring the continued dominance of the ruling-class. The only thing that hasn't been tried yet is Buddhist Nationalism - seen to great effect in the massacres of the Rohingya and Tamils. Let's hope it stays that way, though we should expect more repression of the Red Shirts who probably represent a majority of Thais in poorer areas.

    Moonlight Gogo Bangkok

My intent is not to derail the thread but the many posts jostled my memory back to 1970’s San Francisco when the Campus theater was sort of a crude Moonlight of its day. Rick Donovan is the model I recall best. William Higgins made him one of the top stars of his well-done films. Rick appeared from time to time as did other headliners of the day. He’d do some stuff on stage before walking down the isle to allow guests to deposit bills and inspect the merchandise that was the talk of the town. It was before internet and word about places like this came via word of mouth and guides like Spartacus. A different era to be sure but Campus earned all the hype Moonlight does today.

    Jupiter 2018 is open!

True there are probably some boys who do not want their families to know they are working gogo. But there are others who are very open and have lots of photos of Jupiter/Moonlight on their own social media. If a small cash incentive is offered I’m pretty sure the boys have no objection appearing in promotional material. Moonlight’s strategy is to promote just the models as headliners, but I think they’d draw more customers if they show all their boys.

  18. +1 I've been using Sabaidee Spa more this year than other shops. Very professional. Lots of handsome men. For my tastes, tend to be a bit better looking than Arena. Seems to be a core group of regular guys working most days and always some new guys popping up on the Line updates from time to time, so a nice mix.

  21. Just to be clear, I’m 47. I don’t consider myself “independently wealthy” by US standards. If I felt that I could retire right now and live in the manner which I would like to, and just do something like write or blog or build homes with Habitat For Humanity, I certainly would do it. But I like my stuff (creature comforts). Regarding tourism while traveling, I rarely if ever do touristy things when I travel. Especially in recent years, I try my best, whenever possible and safe, to live like and engage with locals. One will find that in doing so — as Alaskabear also suggests — one’s financial costs will be greatly reduced. My personal politics have always made me despise being viewed as a colonialist, and I try to make my travel interactions reflect that as much as possible. That being said, it’s hard to ignore the attraction and benefits of the US dollar in the places that I most enjoy. And frankly, being a person of color from and in America, it’s always interesting to experience the kinds of privilege that we don’t get when we are in America — ESPECIALLY in the current US climate. It’s almost as if going to other countries for longer and longer periods of time has become a survival technique for me. So, no, it’s not just about “hoeing” or seeing tourist traps for some of us. Regarding boredom, I can easily get bored after just a week back in the States.
