Judging by what I’ve observed—and practiced—at Luckyboys and others places, the incremental red notes the guys collect in tips are becoming an ever increasing share of their overall income.
They realize that they can easily cover their daily living expenses (food, transportation and time with friends after work) by sitting with a handful of customers and sharing small talk and some physical contact for short periods.
It’s a win-win for all concerned. The customer gets a nice experience (and the opportunity to interview different guys), the bar gets the drink income and the boy gets tips—and a possible off on a return visit.
No, it doesn’t provide same same financial punch that a ST offers but it does cover some costs.
Waiters long ago figured this out and acquire a more consistent income along with the possibility of the occasional off.
And for me at least it’s a lot more entertaining than scanning through the on-line offerings.

Many are sending money home not only to their parents and grandparents but also to their own children.
Many gogo boys do not tell customer about their own kids as they know some find it off-putting.
It’s not unusual to have a child when he is 16-17 years old in Thailand.
I learned recently even a twink has a kid back home.

Most of the guys I know send money home.
It really doesn't require much of a mental effort to think about circumstances the guys come from.
Young guys from Cambodia are the children (or in some cases grandchildren) of Khmer Rouge survivors.  Imagine the circumstances in Cambodia when they were born 22-25 years ago and that their families live in even now.  I know many are sending money home to build the first livable homes for their family and are sending their younger brothers and sisters to school.
If you take some time out from the pleasure domes and get to know some of the Myanmar guys, you will find out much the same.  Many guys are from villages where even now there is no electricity.  Spend some time talking and you might find out that waiter serving you spent his time as a stateless Akha family, quite literally foraging for food in the forest.
The same is all true Laos guys and the Vietnamese guys.  I (and others here) know a Laos guy who came from a family with no land, so he actually bought a home for his family.  A lot of Laos guys will remember when their villages first got electricity.
I think all of us who the spend the time really hanging out with these guys, in non-sexual situations even (gasp!), respect them and their commitment to family.  The idea that they're going to say "no, I'm not going to send my mom 2,000 baht this month because I'm going to invest in a mutual fund" is just nonsense.  Setting aside money as savings is a luxury these guys and their families just don't have.
Definitely they're young guys.  They want nice shiny phones and some nice freshly-torn jeans.  And there are some guys (a few) who even have motorbikes, etc.  I certainly don't begrudge them that.  I have a lot of sympathy for what they put up with, so let them have their joys.
People who spend -- objectively speaking -- a lot of money to fly around the world to come to Thailand or Cambodia or wherever to PAY to have sex with young guys who otherwise wouldn't want to have sex with them really cannot claim some sort fiscal prudence superiority.
Not everyone has extra cash to be generous with their money.  But there's no excuse not to have generosity of spirit.

Lazy is not the best choice of words to describe the situation you present above.
Entrepreneurial, ambitious and enterprising are more apt.

One off a day would make him well off. I have known lads not having an off for 2 weeks ish. Four offs a week would be seen as very livable but hard to achieve for many. The men I know are similar to this: rent, maybe 3 men to a room at 5,600 a month total. Food, maybe 3200 a month. Taxis might be 3000 a month, as cheap rooms may be far from work. The non Thai lads need 2000 to do the visa run. Help for the family at home when they can. Police fines can be a problem eg. for overstay. Health costs for non Thai men. Smoking, tattoos and casino for some may be the 'wasteful' expenses but I can hardly talk with the money I spend on men.

DIscussed recently here - which includes a correct link to the longer thread.  The link in the unfortunately-named "timeless" forum is busted.  If you're the right kind of person to do it, then it can be a truly great experience that is loads of fun and you get to really know your guy.  I recommend it, for the right person.
Of course, be advised not all guys want to do it, and those that do might expect a premium over L/T rate, so I can't really say whether a particular guy you might like from Jupiter will even want to join you or anyone else on a trip.

Paradise massage on Silom Soi 6 opens at 10am (according to google). It's not a full-service gay shop as Prince or Arena or Senso, but it's very gay nonetheless, meaning "things" WILL happen there....

vinapu reacted to reader in Thailand Cuts Interest Rate to Record Low
    From Bloomberg Financial
The Bank of Thailand cut its benchmark interest rate for the second time in three months and said it will ease rules on outflows to curb a surging currency.
Five of the seven Monetary Policy Committee members voted to cut the key rate by a quarter-percentage point to 1.25%, the central bank said in a statement. That matches a record low and was in line with the forecasts of 16 of the 26 economists in a Bloomberg survey.
Officials told reporters in Bangkok that the central bank is worried about the strength of the baht, which may continue to weigh on the economy. The bank will ease rules on outflows and consider further steps to rein in the currency, they said.
The baht extended losses, falling as much as 0.7% to 30.399 per dollar, and was at 30.327 as of 3 p.m. in Bangkok.
Thai authorities are stepping up monetary and fiscal support to spur an economy that’s on course for its weakest growth in five years in 2019. The baht has gained more than 8% against the dollar in the past year, the best performer in emerging markets, curbing exports and tourism in the trade-reliant nation.

I've stayed at Tarntawan and walked to Prince.  They will call a taxi for the return.  A taxi will find the place.  My experience is that the number of "therapists" available when Prince opens is small compared to mid-afternoon.
