  1. I stopped in to check on DB Paradiso and Luckyboys. Both places are in soft opening stage but look promising. I think it’s going to take a while for the traffic flows to reroute from Soi Twilight. DB Paradiso- many familiar faces and a couple new ones. Mostly a bit older bigger guys. Drink was 350 baht. As reported, it’s much smaller than the old DB. Layout reminds me of Screwboys with a small stage in front with guys standing and looking a little confused. I didn’t stay for the show but liked the space and will definitely be back. Lucky Boys- this was a pleasant surprise. Quite a nice large airy space one level over street level. They are still doing renovations and were in the process of painting a huge rainbow on the outside of the space. It has a nice lounge like feel and could turn out to be a nice place to spend some time. Stage is large and located quite high in the room. The guys are mostly twinks and there are a lot of them. Like a nonstop flow of twinks on the stage. As has been reported, I was told it’s a combination of forces from Twilight. Drinks 250.
  2. I wholeheartedly agree. Better to grab those little opportunities! I went to Toyboys this last week when it wasn't so busy with lots of eager boys both inside and outside at 9:30pm. I saw a stunning Cambodian boy who was new to the scene and called him over for a drink. After some chitchat and seeing my visible hesitation, he offered to go back with me for LT at 2000 baht. Stupidly, I told him I wanted to see the 10:30pm show at BoyzBoyzBoyz and would come back later. After enduring the straight Chinese boy club that BoyzBoyzBoyz has become (call me nostalgic but I miss the days when Boyztown bars were gay bars, and I didn't have to watch middle-aged Chinese husbands take off their shirts to impress their wives), I rushed back to Toyboys to find my handsome guy. Well sure enough, Toyboys was packed (with more Chinese customers) and he was gone.
  3. Nice report Finnseventy! Sounds like you are already enjoying the many delights of Pattaya. Look forward to hearing how the rest of your trip goes.
  4. Yes, I also like watching the hot masseur's reflection in the mirror. The best ones know this can add to the erotic excitement. The Prince has mirrors in most of their massage rooms. Unfortunately Arena did away with the mirrors in the renovations a few years ago.
  5. Well a447a, as chance may have it, I stopped by Screwboys over the weekend. Unfortunately, it was quite crowded. Doesn't seem like the tour groups go there, but the touts are quite effective at drawing in Chinese couples/small groups mulling around Patpong. Despite that, Screwboys seems to be doing quite well. It's one of my favorite bars these days (despite the smoke, loud music). There are a lot of boys working there and a wide variety. Good mixture of Vietnamese, Cambodian and Thai guys. Drinks are reasonable at 300 baht. Maybe not to everyone's taste but I certainly enjoy it for what it is.
  6. I completely agree! Miss the days of meeting at the beach or in the disco. Guess those days are behind us. Gay Romeo must be feeling some competition from the other dating apps and have tried to change to have some of the similar location based services like Grindr. If it draws more Thai guys that would be a good thing since it's felt like it's been declining in popularity in Bangkok. I only use the Classic version too but they seem to have some aggressive software/cookies on my mobile that tries to move to the new version.
  7. It does feel something like Chippendales with all the women and many of the guys obviously favoring them. It used to bother me but I just change my strategy and go before the tour groups arrive. I'm really just going to look at attractive guys and occasionally take one home. They certainly like my baht just as much. This past weekend was another Chinese holiday (dragon boat days) so Silom was full up. DJ Station was packed. Gotten to the point that it's good to check the PRC holiday schedule.
  8. It's good news that new HIV cases are declining. Hopefully this trend will continue as medicine advances. As mentioned above, PREP is affordable and easily accessible to both Thais and foreigners at Pulse Clinic (and elsewhere in Thailand). I've started using it after some initial hesitance after some friends had good experience with it. I've noticed a couple things though. Young Thai guys in their 20s (perhaps like others in that age range globally) don't have the same "fear" of contracting HIV as older guys. My experience dating non-moneyboys is they often prefer not to use condoms. On the other hand, I can't remember a moneyboy who didn't insist on using a condom. There also are still a lot of guys who engage in "PNP" and that is a recipe for disaster.
  9. I finally had a chance to stop by the new Jupiter 2018. After being open for over a month, looked like it was going strong on a rainy Saturday night. I arrived at 9:15pm and by 10:00pm the club was nearly full. Plenty of large groups and a mixed audience of men/women. As the pictures posted earlier show, the club is bright and clean with a stage and runway. As the boys walk along the runway, it's easy to get a good view. They wear camo themed shirts and pants with most of the guys taking their shirts off. I counted over 30 guys and most were athletic to muscular with plenty of six-packs on display. I recognized some of the guys from the old Jupiter (including Mehkin formerly of Tawan) but there were familiar faces from other bars like X Boys and Screwboys. I stayed for the beginning of the show. The shows I saw were similar to the shows at the old Jupiter but choreographed for the new layout of the stage. The amazing acrobatic and incredibly sexy hula-hoop guy from Jupiter still has his show. If you haven't seen this show, it's worth visiting just to see. Notably, there are no ladyboy shows. Drinks were 250 baht and off fee was 400 baht. Overall, nice club and some really hot guys. But I have to admit it would make me feel a bit uncomfortable walking down Soi 4 with a boy tow in front of all those looky-loos. Guess it shouldn't matter, but it's less comfortable than Soi Twilight.
  10. A new gogo bar has opened in the space formerly occupied by Jupiter off of Surawong Road. I wandered into the bar around 9:30pm and there was already a good crowd. By the start of the show at 10:30pm, it was a full-house thanks to the ever-present groups of Chinese tourists. Overall, a fun and nice addition to the scene. I didn't notice many changes to the club aside from some minor decorations. The boys and staff were mostly new although there were some familiar faces from the old Jupiter. There were around 15-20 boys working on the night I was there, and I was told they are still looking to add more. It was an attractive mix of boy next door to muscular guys wearing jeans and a black singlet or shirtless as they do the rotation. The show was quite similar to the old Jupiter show with some new songs and dances to keep it fresh. There was a mix of ladyboy shows (I think they are the same ladyboys from Jupiter) and performances by the boys. There is a grand opening special for the first week with half-price drinks at 190 baht for men and 250 baht for women. It's amazing how much more fun it is when drinks are reasonably priced! The bar fee to take a boy is 400 baht.
  11. Thank you for the update zoomy02. I will certainly stop by Dick's Cafe this weekend and do my small part to support Soi Twilight business.
  12. Thanks PeterRS. That's indeed sad news. It was always a relaxing place in the midst of the busy soi. Best wishes for the staff.
  13. I noticed Dick's Cafe was closed last night when I was walking in Soi Twilight. I didn't see any signs saying they would re-open. Hopefully not a permanent closure since I enjoyed having a drink there and watching the traffic in the soi. Does anyone know if this is just temporary?
  14. Thanks for the reports samebb and hanguy. I too am hopeful for Jupiter's success and think the additional competition is good for all of us as customers. Hopefully they will be able to recruit some new boys. I was in Dreamboys last night and my captain told me that several Jupiter boys had joined Dreamboys. I saw one I recognized in the show and noticed the former "star" in street clothes as I walked in. Dreamboys as usual packed on a Friday night with more than the usual number of farang and Thai lady customers. Still plenty of Chinese tour groups though.
