    Silom bars

A friend has sent me several clips from a nightclub operating in Bannna bar well into the late late hours, not sure if that was something that was just operating when the Gogo bars were closed or if it's something that still continues post relaxation of rules
  2. Quite a few of the Cupidol and Toyboys boys are now working as freelancers in Pikky bar on Boystown, also some to be found in JoJo and home bar in Jomtien
  3. Stayed in the Pullman Bangkok hotel G in silom in late December on T&G. Test was done on a dedicated suite in the hotel on my arrival at ~08.30 at 15.00 they called to tell me I was released and shoved the release papers under my fort minutes later

    Silom laundry

I am the opposite. When I miss Thailand I take out some of my neatly starched clothes from my last trip and savour the smell of freshly laundered holiday clothes! Reminds me of getting ready to go out on the town!

You haven't seen him with his clothes off!

    Silom laundry

Thanks Daydreamer! Was hoping for something on the surawong side of Silom, but I guess it's better than bringing home a suitcase of dirty clothes!
  7. Hi all, just wondering if anyone has any post covid-19 recommendations for getting laundry done in the silom area? We used to use Sheraton Tailors which was just a few doors past the Glitz on surawong, but that's all closed up now. Found a self service washing machine shop in the small alleyway that used to house Super-A, but of course we had no drying facilities in the Raya. In the end it was cheaper to buy new clothes than to use their dry cleaning facilities, especially with the way my BF goes through clothes changes in a day! Thanks in advance!
  8. My current favourite route to to go via Helsinki on Finnair. It's usually a 3+8 hour flight on the way out and 9+3 on the way back. Nice modern a350 fleet also and a hassle free transfer at Helsinki. Although the food is pretty awful!
  9. Looks like the old location of Tomahawk bar?

    Thai Pass

@Londoner Royal Thai Vacations will handle it all for you for a handling fee Their cost is around 11k B. so this is 5k above the going rate, but includes the Covid insurance (if you are 75 or under), which is worth 3k, so their margin is around 2k. Its not cheap, but possibly cheaper than getting someone to come to your house to help They previously got very positive feedback on Facebook for their sandbox packages https://royalvacationdmc.com/pattaya-1-day-quarantine-packages If You book this Package, we will only need from You: Passport Copy – Flight Itinerary – Vaccine Proof, and we Handle all the rest.
  11. The M&S trekking shorts are on special in some colours at the moment and will probably be on clearance quite soon. I find them very good, with good storage and a nice stretch, although I will get an inch chopped off my latest ones when I get to Thailand in the new year https://www.marksandspencer.com/regular-fit-cotton-rich-shorts-with-stretch/p/clp60372094?color=PETROL&prevPage=srp#intid=prodColourId-60372095
  12. My understanding is that its mostly cargo, perishables that normally travel by air are still going that way, keeps the airframes in the air and the pilots certified
  13. The word I was looking for is tolerance, not immunity, and according to my gastroenterologist you can build up a tolerance to Propofol when used over a number of consecutive days. Maybe I am still under and this whole Covid-19 thing is just a figment of my imagination!
  14. The problem with Propofol is that your body gets used to it and builds up an immunity 2.5 years ago I had to get 5 ERCPs (a procedure that combines GI endoscopy and x-rays) in a short period of time to remove an errant gallstone that was blocking my bile duct. I woke up half way through the second last procedure and it was a very unpleasant experience!
  15. My understanding is that the European ruling is a reciprocal agreement. So it will only be valid for Thailand when they lift their ban on Europeans entering Thailand
  16. Looks like G-star Pattaya is getting ready tomorrow at 7pm They have put in all new plastic cubicles to comply with the social distancing rules There are also some reassuring PR type videos (in Thai) on their FB page: https://www.facebook.com/gstarpattayaclub/
  17. A friend of mine was an living as an ex-pat in Cambodia, around 2 years ago when he fell quite ill with breathing difficulties, the local doctors sent him overland to Khorat (in Thailand) as the local hospitals there were just not up to scratch One thing for sure is that I don't think I would like to be in Cambodia during a Covid-19 outbreak!
  18. It's still happening daily, if you look at Sun's FB page (Sun Sun bar) you can see the daily pics and also accounts of donations todays meal was "chicken spicy curry with pickled bamboo shoots" I note that Home Bar are also doing similar, as are QM2 and 4T bar
  19. City Boys (later Gacuya) It is now a front for an underground casino. I know quite a few boys that go there after work and chase the money that they lost the night before!
  20. Of course, my BF shows up in Suvarnabhumi with only the clothes on his back, his phone and his tablet. 3 weeks later he is hauling 30kgs of new stuff with him and blaming me for making him walk from The Raya to The Glitz!
  21. Oh and a few words on the Red Planet Surawong As others have written the rooms are very small. They may be ok for to sleep in with an occasional overnight guest or ST visitor, but as someone that was travelling with my BF, the room was totally unsuitable for 3 nights. We were at the end of a 3 week trip and there was no room for 2 suitcases etc On the plus side: Clean and bright rooms, excellent AC, absolute dark blackout blinds, Fast lifts, Friendly staff, 7-11 onsite, 6-7 min walk from Wat Hualumpong and the new Mall at Samyan Mitrtown I even managed to get my BF to walk from there to Patpong (a miracle!)
  22. A word of praise for hotels.com The Raya was booked out on my last 3 nights in Mid Jan, so we moved down the road to the Glitz hotel. We dropped off our bags and headed to Paragon for a few hours. When we got back to the room our bed was swarming with ants, as was the bathroom (note we had no food with us, so it wasn't due to that) BF went to reception and asked to change rooms, they moved us to a (smaller) room 2 flights up. As soon as we entered that room i picked up a pillow from the bed and there were 3 ants under it. The girl saw them and simply shrugged, we were told there were no more rooms and that they would not cancel our reservation as it was non refundable. I booked us into the Red planet and we checked our of Glitz and made our way down the road Later that night i went on an online chat with a hotels.com representative. They rang the hotel and asked to speak to the manager. The manager had gone home so they told me that they would call the manager on my behalf the next day. Next morning when i woke up I had an e-mail from Hotels.com to say that they had spoken with the manager of the Glitz and refunded all 3 nights to my CC and also attached a voucher for €39 towards my next stay with them. I thought that this was excellent service and they definitely have my loyalty now. I guess the fact that I booked a parallel booking in Red Planet on the same dates helped my refund case. One thing for sure is that I will never ever go back to the Glitz
  23. Don't forget the beer cooler sleeves, never cleaned from year to year and surely some of the most disgusting germ infested objects in the world... even the towels in the old Eros toilet would be cleaner than them!
  24. I'm guessing Mandalay was your first stop and Bagan the second> Question for you: Did Bangkok Guy show any reluctance to visit Myanmar? My Thai BF is very reluctant to visit Myanmar as he feels he will not be welcome there (ancient enemy and all that) so it is always instantly crossed off the list. Funnily enough he has no issues in Cambodia these days, but he felt very uncomfortable on our first visit there in 2004, so much so we left a day earlier than planned
  25. Seems that is a bar for Ladies to pick up boys and its on Soi Buakow: https://www.facebook.com/blacksnakeclubpattaya/ https://www.instagram.com/blacksnakeclubpattaya1/ I spotted Jack in one of the pics, s/he was the mamasan in Dude club many moons ago
