  1. LOL for anyone who has followed your well-documented sexcapades on this site over the years you would certainly appear to give a whole new meaning to the word 'boyfriend.'
  2. For a self-described OP constantly reminding us of having "visited Brazil for 15 years over a hundred times," one might think you'd be willing/able to pick up a local rag not written in English. I say this with all due respect, as the effort might enrich your next hundred visits over the years to come.
  3. This is great news. The paper spread a lot of misinformation, let's just say unintentionally, by not having an informed understanding of what was going down. Those who read the articles ended up spreading garbage. Why not make a serious attempt to finally learn the language? Problem solved.
  4. It's about time. Well-meaning, but not very reliable. No fact-checking or competent editing. Do not despair. There are plenty of reputable local news sources available in the local language.
  5. You have repeated this story on the site several times, and yet after reading your clarification here, it is still not clear just what type of ' assistance' you were looking for, that the locals somehow begrudged you. I can only reinforce what @likeohmygod has stated. Neither you nor your missing saviour would have benefited from retaliation in your favor - quite the contrary. As he states: - "That's why most of the people won't help you if you get mugged. Most of the people would never risk to get shot to save a gringo from losing his DSLR camera or iPhone" .... Not then, and not now.
  6. With all due respect, you didn't actually expect the locals to put themselves at serious risk by running to the rescue of a hapless stranger, let alone a gringo??
  7. LOL @docbr. Are you referring to just the locals or are you slyly including gringo sugar daddies?
  8. Your response is appreciated Oz. I missed it and wasn't trying to be disrespectful. @Tomcal You initiated this thread and it generated over a thousand page views and dozens of responses. So it seems reasonable that you put the matter to rest as to what you actually meant in the first place? Was the "Incident" the sharing over there of private club fotos or over here on the general fórum.
  9. Then that directly contradicts what Oz has asserted, and the private clubs are then absolutely part of the problem. IF true, then dismissing this information out of hand and instead promoting the use of such clubs in the wake of what happened is very wrong and only exacerbates the issue - and the probability of a very ugly recurrence. Have to agree with Rock on this one. A private club on the internet is only as "private" as each and every one of its (anonymous) members make it.
  10. So how do the Brazilian 'friends' and their friends view this, as well as coming from a gringo client?
  11. So true. It's a presidential election year, so the only thing we can continue to count on are the hefty swings in currency markets as it plays out.
  12. No need for apologies, Latbear. You, along with MsGuy, are absolutely correct. Technically speaking, it is in fact the US Dollar that is trading at a near all-time high. Logically, this would mean that the Brazil Real is trading at a near all-time low. Just run a quick google search with proper web sites like Bloomberg, Euromoney, or Reuters. You will see many recent examples with the proper usage. And why is the US Dollar trading at near an all-time high? It doesn't take a genious to recognize that it now buys more reais than before. As has been pointed out, with a bogus exchange rate listing even before the local currency was introduced, this type of error is not unexpected from a free, second-rate site. More fundamentally, why is the Brazil Real so uncorrelated to other Emerging Market currencies at the moment, vis-à-vis the US Dollar? In other words, why is the Real weakening, when its peers have been strengthening, versus the US Dollar, especially with the Fed's recent dovish remarks on monetary policy? Answer: It is locally driven, and it's all about the local presidential elections. The latest polls show that market-unfriendly candidates are advancing, both from the extreme left (former President Lula, currently jailed), and from the extreme right (Bolsonaro).
  13. Clearly this particular news source represents investigative journalism at its finest. As duly noted by fellow members in a thread documenting the massive wave of hotel closures.
  14. Couldn't agree more with fellow posters. Does not appear like the most definitive source at least for hard news of what is actually going on in the country, and yes, those pop-up notices do grate!
  15. I don't think so @Badboy81 No offense, but personally I'm inclined to believe @Tomcal He has posted here that local dudes are content to just hang out with him for weekends at a time. Are you saying that they otherwise wouldn't enjoy his company??
  16. I hope you're serious about reimbursing medical costs. Have you at least been in touch with Bruno?
  17. Back now from a week-long romantic getaway in Gramado and Canela with my new boyfriend LOL. Thanks Ferrar for the recommendations. Will post in greater detail after I finish recovering here in boring PA.
  18. I agree with most posters here. If it doesn't come naturally, then such demands are simply forcing the poor guy to do something he obviously would rather not want to do himself. What's the point? On top of that, you are limiting the economic potential of the guy for the night. Even a decent surcharge would likely not compensate for that.
  19. I am in Porto Alegre right NOW so this thread is very relevant. Thanks to @Tartegogo for the thread - although he seems to have disappeared! LOL Personally, I have found the saunas WAY overrated here! But the usual app's work great, and I have met some standout guys for hire and not for hire. To be perfectly honest PA is very boring - it is like suburbia so thank you @ferrarfor the awesome posts on options OUTSIDE of PA. Looks like it's time for an excursion. Originally looking for day trip - but now leaning toward overnights. Can someone here elaborate on recommended bed and breakfasts around Gramado? Also on specific wineries around the Vale? I think I may have found the right guy for a romantic adventure LOL. Will post later if I get a response.
