This site recently has nice enough info about msg-shops in Sapan Kwai, you yourself also went there. Just seeing from pix, I would say ogasms-spa should offer something. Dont know if still there or also renamed. Now have to wait&see if whole town gets cordoned off for that big meeting of presidents of this world next week........
  2. So you had nong may? You likely know that Lao (real) and/or Isany are interchangeable for many. The MIN suggested tip here is 600-in other such places it seems to vary with the guy. From what I gathered else-or other forum-many of these shops (there must be 8 or 9-at least along Intamara, some change names very frequently) belong to same owner and the pool of guys seems also to be the same-they do not stay in the shop, as is/was mostly the case in such shops, but at a convenient close-by place from where they are summoned up by fone. Probably to escape police raids for ´illegals´. Plus that the standard layout of these shop-row-houses does not allow for much other way to arrange things. My bet is that Tune is Burmese. Well, anyway, mant thanks for your reports, counting the days now till I have to get to airport and board the flight-to change halfway in Dubai to reach BKK. Reports and perhaps new (or maybe already closed) places can also be found on a chinese (Taiwan I gather) site gaycoolthai.com-click on Thai massage and then let google translate it (pigs=THB, mechanist=masseur).
  3. They can also be found and also with specific local names about anywhere in ASEAN. For me a little strange that other very buddhist countries, like Burma, Vietnam then seem to have them, but in much lower numbers. Myself mostly familiair with Indonesia and in some areas there they are also rampant high in numbers. Were thought of as more acceptable ´relief allowing´ for married men compared to all-ladies. Somehow I also kind of remember some very old guidebooks or the like about Tahiti (french owned) that magical paradise island far away in the Pacific Ocean that seemed to have them in relative abundance. ´Real´ Thai gays I know better were always very, very adamant in stating they very certainly were NOT kathoey.
  4. Basis: only big streets have names-the translation/transcription can vary an awful lot-also between western languages These streets will have dozens of side streets, nbrd the same way as houses mostly in the west: 1 side the odds, other side the evens. (like Sliom 2 - 4 -6 etc> These sidestreets= soi can also have sub-sois (mostly called yaek, but that means corner) Buildings should be nbrd as also in west but very often the old system still applies: in order of when they were built (I think the JPNese also do that) so it may appear hodge-podge. It is very, very common for Thai to ask+ask again where an unknown place is located-or rather to put it all in the hands of your friendly motosay guy or taxidriver. Thai order taximeters mostly not to an adress but a point anyone knows nearby and will then guide driver to place to step off (most taxi´s are used that way) or trust driver to find it by himself if the place is unknown. Besides google there is open source openstreetmaps. org but I still have to compare what it can deliver for BKK This site originates from Germany and is in general pretty good in also transport lines etc.
  5. 20 days or so to come for me to be there-but this soi 6 will not be the very 1st to aim for. Have never counted nr of trips in total, plus that many were like sandwich: TH-somewhere else-back to TH and fly home. Is that 1 or 2 visits? With 2 - 3 / yr since around 1988 that must total just </ > 100. I somewhere still have some list of all the flites and airlines I have used-shame if ever a greeney climate promoter finds that- must be at least 33 different airlines. Best for me remains THAI-but in its best yrs, around or before 2000. Oh-I still have nearly all the passprts (lasted only 5 yrs then) so I could count it. And no- there will not be reports, it will be far too boring plus that it hardly will touch Silom even. And no one except me will be interested in the current state of the BMTA
  6. @1. yes and/or no-there are no set rules for that. Also each of the 12+ banks that will do exchanges sets its own rates-and these may also differ per city/branch. Upcountry-and even suburban BKK many banks will not do exchange. Generally-in the past- Thai Farmers Bank (now Kasikorn) had best rates-but difference is minimal between banks. @2.as 1. Those at airpt are notoriously (of course) lower in rate. PLUS that very often the mAX amount will not be spewn out, so you pay more those 220 THB as thought of @3. as said above the PRIVate, chinese, money exchanges, mostly with a RICH in their name. Better exchange rate and NO fee at all-but slow process-DO bring passpt and HTLcard. There is in BKK a whole cluster just left of BigC Ratchprasong, opposite the former World Trade Centre-just OFF Siam/BTS and also near Phantip fake-computer/CD dept.store and Indian taylor mekka. But also-ask vinapu of course, now several in Silom and Suriwong (if you really watch every satang, then near WTC are top). There used to be such a 1 in the ground floor of where Arena msg is-but I dk actual situation. I always keep a few 1000 and small notes for next trip and go there once a while, but the current stack is still from march ´20.
  7. From EURope lowest prices are now about the same-whereas I could always pre-covid and with a reasonable 2-3 month advance book for aorund 600 (€ of course), even on Swissair. But for stays >1 month-taking profit of the temp. 45 days limit, they go even up more, hardly anything <1000 (well, Saudi, not my choice)
  8. Sapan Kwai (=buffalo bridge, but its nickname is also very Thai...kuoy) has always been a lower key/lower priced gay area-since at least some 40 yrs by now. And an enormous area of cheap (and awful/tight) housing to its other side. Tipically an area where in the west migrants would find their first dig. That overly famous weekend market just 1 stop further up along BTS. Though it amazes me now a bit that suddenly so many of these m2m shops get mentioned and quite a few must be fairly new (I have been to 2 or 3 some 12-15 yrs ago, but on the other side of that main rd.). So reader-I just saw he also has discovered 365 has some more places to discover-he now knows the way (there was also the 77 bus from along Silom ging along till weekend market and on to busterminal-let those tiny orange mini´s pass by) so please do some more exploring work and let us now! Christian has also some notes + pix on the other forum.
  9. Wow-there must be 5 elements-as there is also in Chinese astrology (I am metal/steel). Room does look far better as the one I now sit in at the outskirts of Madrid but may cost even less/night. And good luck with the rest, after the condoleance, a promising start with surely more & better to follow
  10. Wow-do you still have one? In my country these are abolished since at least turn to 2000-or when this € came (2, 3 yrs later). Or is it also now a musem pice without real value.
  11. Kokopelli says it the best: it is in touristy places a non-issue. And you will be far too scared and unknowing to venture out of those. Actually it works for the normal tourist rather the other way: that s one main reason why Thaild gets so many rave reviews about good service, smiling attention etc. Actually exact translating from the Thai it is ´broken face´ not lost. The main exception is when you have to deal with authority: on arrival, after that hardly anymore, but it may happen. Then THEY are above you. It may force you to be polite and showing off as a good tourist. But that last for 10 secs. In fact this whole thing is mostly about ´class distinction´ a very rife thing here: no one is equal, in theory there is always someone higher/lower.
  12. Super A and Lucky S were related and later kind of ´merged´ into 1. The original SupA as I remember was just 1 house beyond where it is now-at least double the size. But for quite a long time I kept an off-bar regular meeting whilst in BKK with a guy working there and met first time there-he also quickly noted the un-comfort and pointed to alternative dating. This must have been the early/mid 90ies. There were at that time also f...ing shows, already then with the very slim long haired katoey. Probably only when enough customers were present. I would like to correct some; Super LEK was not at all the tipical sleazy one-it was run as a strict Japanese style club -which also meant that any more close move to a guy working would cost money to purchase something. Name a bit similar to LUcky S=-but quite different operating. Just around the corner was my favorite-not so much the Golden Cock but a bar that had various names, I remember King Diamond. In soi Anuman...-just beyond what is now that restrt. (or also was?) There has also been a sauna for a few monthes on the corner just before the G.Cock.
  13. There as also a favorite such place for taxi-drivers along Outer Ratchdamnern (east of Sanam Luang-near the golden mount) and that has also been pushed out to suburbia (Bang Khen I think, indeed somewhere in the areas where also DMK sits)-much better to manage traffic. Both were mostly enormous populair becse of the illegal bets. But that was already some yrs before covid hitat least 5 yrs ago by now
  14. The mid-day market is there since many, many yrs and aims the office workers-see the many hi-rise banks there. Of course these precious hi-so need to be protected from burning sunshone That sun-PM was a one off and was held at various periods in various areas of what the dear BMA reigns over (the city council)-it was usually only decided at very late stage. That stuff can be found as such in 100s of BKK-markets. Mostly named as ´walking street´. There used to be an evening market around the canals close by Sanam Luang-incl several stands with naughty stuff-think robber-copy-copy DVD and ´toys´ with a purpose. But that was deemed to make too much traffic jam and moved to outer suburbia-no idea if that still goes on.
  15. Just by sheer chance saw your name on the listing so read this report. Wow-thats a lot of holidays in a short time. Have also been to MX-3 times (very 1st only a short 2 days out of Texas) but never been here. Have (same series as that TMOT books) also still a kind of insiders ´gay guide´ for MX-also describing this Pacific Ocean resort, most of it (as I remember now) on the strip/´gogo´ etc. bar scene in MX-city/ciudade/DF. All in all I kind of tend to think now this was also very much possible in some Espanol resorts or on Canarias. No MXP=peso, but hard €. Also muchas gracias to slovakguy (actually I now sit in PL pretty close to SK) for his additions. THai massage (and with some Thai text, so probably real and not fake-VNese) is here too. But it will not entice me to go to PV. Were all those guys also Mexicano? Or do they also have an influx from the poorer Latino-countries? How are bar times? I for myself do not like that all-night fun time-am a very early riser and somehow that Spanish rhythm of the day never really catches me on (siesta, dinner at 22.00, after that only bars get barely going etc.).
  16. So the dates do not correspond. BUT they do with my booked arrival in BKK after such a long time. As a long-time and frequent visitor to the city I remember same-same arrangements from before: its mostly to get the traffic down to sundaymorning level so that the cavalcades of black limo´s can swish through its streets that have been festooned with merry welcome posters. That centre was demolished and so apparently has now been rebuilt? Same place as before (Christian-if so-you live very nearby?)?. Also read that a mr Macron, heading the France was invited and provisionally accepted the invitation-his very 1st visit to LoS (Land of Smiles, as was the common nickname before). IT will not be any busier in these sois, but the high-grade outcall centres will have to rack up some extra staff to please the punters................
  17. Except when they have not-or do not, or will not, or have no experience. Or if they have noone suitable right there at that mo. Price seems to have skyrocketed too. And I remain firm that looks say nothing about skills. @vince: in the Thai places this will simply be assumed to be all-included. Also in the tip, which will be suggested (prescribed if you like) and mostly depend on time. Once I hit a place that (must have been a special item for a447/shamelessmack) that did not have massage-beds, nor the usual Thai style mattress on the floor (which I prefer after all) but a real double bed-quite hard to even do the massage. (see thaimassageboy.com for these places-there are many more, this site is slowly dying). @lm23-perhaps, maybe, sometimes, depends on guy and his mood or other dates, but in general this is not aimed for. Thai go to such places to keep it hidden from the neighborhood. I mentioned shamelessmack-and he too has returned to blighty and made some new reports and is now busy repeating older items.
  18. Well, then I will repeat yet another story that all farang pass on to one-another: Thai canNOT read maps. None. Either. Never learnt that. Still some can produce really good maps, like even at the BMTA (the BKK buses)-but thats only for insiders. BTW-would google really disclose as to where/when there are those giant traffic jams? Most days they are on the same spots at the same times-and very hard to escape. Cabbies (the more experienced ones) in general do know some bypasses etc-but of course not in all of BKK.
  19. Mosey on over Keep them coming..... (was meant to stimulate readers letters) Cases of TITs = THis is Thailand Thats what I remember after all those yrs (only from the BKK-post when I was in town) without checking this text. After the yrs the BKK-post gradually seemed to get alienated from him-reducing the page size, the frequency and perhaps even what he was allowed to write (?!). Then came yet another new chef and it was all stopped (but I guess he was already long time knowing it to happen and over pension age)
  20. Thanks bucknaway for coming back (I seem to have not noted you for quite a while) and with a thorough and to the point comparison. Never been myself to BRasil and guess it will also not happen anymore (have been to the lower south of it-Paraguay-Uruguay-Argentina-Chile - all less dangerous in general), but as a normal touristy venture and meetings to Brasil guys were in that famous rent-a-guy sauna in Barcelona-it was OK there. The odd Columbian was better-but thats just a N=1 sample so says nothing. BUT there is a way to meet and have pleasure from plenty of Thai guys and avoid all those overpriced drinks-which also means you do not even have to venture in the Silom ghetto. Just go to the Thai places. Some sauna´s in suburban BKK also have the odd very wild nite every now&then. Now there has not yet been 1 who explained or tried to calculate how much of that 400 bt (about 11€ or $) goes in the pockets of the guys in brown (BiB´s).
  21. Also khap khun/thanks from me to keep sprits alive. As I am member of Ibis/all.accor I checked-the chain now has 40+ hotels in Bkk (also Novotel and Mercure and other hi-so brands) all over the city. Prices (even the lower member ones) are not that cheap for TH-many cost more as a same-same now in Europe/night. But the pics show indeed more-nicer, bigger , and what they do not show is the always perfect Thai service. But I´ll keep it in mind when I check my points and see if it is enough to cover.
  22. Back to the OQ: just as vinapu I live in EUR, also hold a small condo, all paid out of sale of larger aprtmt in a wanted city, since retirement (pension for some, double in my case, and no rent/mortgage) close by to rest of family and adapted to seniors. Have visited Th nearly some 100 times, partly due also to work and once lived there for over 1 yr-thru all the seasons. have also visited through some 30 yrs all TH provinces and rode about the whole of this crumbling museum on rails called SRT. And flown on some 11+ local airlines. Also visited all neighboring countries, best loved remains INDOnesia forever, with Malaysia also nice. Speak-after being re-settled again when returning-reasonable Thai and can read-slowly-basic signs etc. My bahasa is far better. It is due to that 1 yr I´ve long time ago made decision to not settle there -just long time visits in EUR winter=when it is in Th also cool season and best bearable. That was a steady rhythm till covid struck-I returned on 20-3-20, just the day when all the blackouts and isolations started etc. Could not return (well, as vinapu I could have done, but I found the rules too much hassle for it, but have booked last week to go nov. for the max 45 days now allowed). Last yrs I comfortly stayed in BKK and have explored that city till its outer areas. Plan to do that again and now-since some 22 yrs-also dip my toe in the dirty seawaters of Jomtien-just to see if I can stand it and if it offers more as BKK has. I am not a beach type at all (home is about 5 kms away from sea) and PTY for me, as I remember it, had very little to do in normal daytime activities.
  23. Extremely high priced. In one of BKKs fashionista neighborhoods (near Thonglor), and they announce to have a Johnny, Boss and Ben among staff. And MooYang (roasted pork, a nickname). I dont do those ´socials´, so no idea how long that insta will keep dead or closed bisnis on it- a common feature of about anything in Thailand
  24. But if you make it in practice it will certainly lead-hopefully for both of the couple, to being very much ´SIAO´. And that keeps them drawing in........(like SEE-(y)AO). That nguen is one of those works about impossible to pronounce with twisted tongues of farang. Though there are many more words meaning or relating to about same state of feelings. It rymes a bit with ´deun´=walk.
