The idea of gay community is important to me. There have been a few very close gay friends in my life in Thailand but sadly, they are no longer with us. As they were much older than me, I was so happy to have them as part of my life and listen to their stories and history. I learned a great deal from conversations and correspondence. The one friend I had in Pattaya passed away a while back and I have had zero desire to visit there since. He was the reason I went to spend long weekends and without that, I find I had rather go to other places. I do think very important to have a wide variety of friends. Most of my friends in most cities are not gay. But, where I spent most of my adult life (New York City), the opposite is true. I still have those gays that are as close as family and I see them often and hang out with them often. Gone are the days of discos and nightclubs and sex clubs, now to the days of brunches without handovers, dinner and the theater, and just getting together to play games (I taught them Rook so they would have a bit of my childhood).

I have stayed in 6 of them. I think I need to get out of Asia more! The Oberoi Amarvilas (Agra, India) is the one the BF loved when we visited India as our balcony overlooked the Taj. I was surprised the Welcome Plaza in Pattaya was not on the list as my first visit to Thailand, I was assured it was truly amazing (ended up only one night).

I took the stats from experienced researchers who know gay men. Play and BF are not the same. But, yes, everyone defines the relationship different and different rules apply to different couples. However, monogamy is never a rule is the followed. It could be sex with a third or separate holidays. Or, whatever. But, don't equate play with BF or BF with monogamy and I'm OK with the rest.

It is OK. I went to Silom Dental as I have since a good friend Firecat recommended them to me. They are great, fast, reliable, and cheap. Two days in the dental chair and less than 400 USD. It would really be 5-10 times that in USA.
