  1. I was in Malta recently and two cruise ships were constantly in the port. The amount of passengers in Valetta each day was probably in the region of 5000. It really spoilt the place. All bars, restaurants, cafes and tourist attractions full to the brim.
  2. Haha the same thing happened to me, except it was the bar tender at the Club 21 next door! He suggested I try Thailand even if I wasn’t attracted to Asian guys. So I booked a two week trip and spent half of it in Bangkok and the second half in Pattaya. When the two weeks were up I returned to the UK. A week later I was back in Pattaya, got a condo, and stayed 3 months! I have now been doing so for just under 20 years.
  3. Siem Reap in Cambodia. Really enjoyed it there.
  4. I can’t see that. If it was going to happen it would have happened 10 years ago. Sunee Plaza is a fair walk off the beaten track. The area is very run down and full of narrow roads and access is difficult. High rise buildings are usually positioned on,or near main roads for ease of access and also need plenty of parking space. In addition, as we well know, there is no real entertainment (gay or straight) in the area for those living there to enjoy. So I don’t see anyone building a high rise or anyone buying the units, if one was ever built.
  5. I lived in HK for three years from 1960. Thee was no aircon anywhere. Not even at school. Never bothered me!
  6. I noticed Jomtien seemed to get quieter from the end of February. Perhaps a little earlier than normal but if farangs took out the usual 90 day visas to avoid the European winter and left in early December, to take advantage of the cheaper fares before Christmas, then they would be due to return early March. Nothing unusual! I was one of them!
  7. I use the chemist in the local Tescos for my prescriptions. The surgery issues me an annual prescription which I collect monthly. However Tescos will give me 3 months on request. ( provided there are at least 3 months remaining). I have not asked for longer. The other thing to bear in mind is that you are only supposed to enter Thailand with only one months worth of items. In nearly 20 years I have never been stopped and do not know anyone who has. It is recommended to carry them in your carry on luggage in case they lose your checked in baggage.
  8. Aren’t they having an election in late May? Surely nothing will be announced until we’ll after that.
  9. Not heard anything …is the board safe to log into yet?
  10. My “go to”taxi company for years. Reliable on time and fair price. https://www.thelimopattaya.com/booking/ Bolt and Grab are only for short local rides.
  11. Brazil sounds like an absolute sh1t hole. Thanks for the warnings. Will give it a miss.
  12. Now seems ok. Have you had it fixed it Mr Oz?
  13. Anyone else having trouble in the last week or so? Sometimes I can’t even connect to the site at all. Often it is very slow to change pages…. if it changes at all. Or is it the problem at my end?
  14. I did a tour of all the Gogo bars in BT last week. Visited them all including BBB but didn’t stay as the boys on stage were wearing a LOT more than I was!!
  15. They are still there. I used them only the other day. Try this … https://www.thelimopattaya.com/booking/ This is the link that I used to book. Always works for me!
  16. So when should you have had the vaccinations? I want to leave Thailand next week to visit Cambodia and return the here the following week. Will my two jabs done back in April and June 2021 (nearly two years ago) be acceptable?
  17. Actually it is not at all unusual. Often caused by a urinary inflection, as is blood in urine….See here https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/blood-in-semen/
  18. Can’t find flights Dublin to BKK at a good price. Which airline are you looking at?
  19. I only go by the number of poor reviews. No owner will write his own poor review!
  20. I agree with Vinapu. Maybe, just maybe, if we now all vote with our feet the “offending” bars will get the message. Nobody is objecting to a reasonable party. What we are objecting to is the noise intrusion 3 or more bars up the street. Imagine what would happen if this behaviour happened in a similar residential area in London or Sydney….which are probably the sort of cities where these bar owners originate from.
  21. I went in there last week looking for a motor bike. She told me they wear all rented out for the next few weeks. Actually a good sign…as regards visitor numbers!
  22. So where were the Police on the night? Why weren’t they anywhere to be seen? The cops have often been in evidence over the last week at closing time to ensure no after hours drinking….so where were they when these terrible disturbances were going on? Surely they are illegal at the volume heard from the two bars simultaneously the other night? We are frequently told that Jomtien is a RESIDENTIAL area and that is the reason Gogo bars are not allowed. If so, why is this awful racket permitted? The regularity of it (especially at “The Palace”) surely does more harm to residents than a few Gogo bars ever would.
  23. I was also in JC last night. What an awful night it was. We were sat in Divarium from about 8 p.m. and that “noise” was already in full swing. It was 3 bars up the street but things became completely intolerable when that dump “The Palace”, next door to Divarium also started up. Endless screeching Katoys in the street. Not even in the bar. It was as if they were trying to outdo each other. We too had to flee to a quieter part of Jomtien Complex. Memo to self…avoid an evening in JC when anyone is having a “party”.
  24. Not sure. I go through the fast track (seniority!) but didn’t see anyone waiting. Maybe. I couldn’t see them from where I was.
