Moonlight, new go go show bar...in the old Jupiter

Recommended Posts

Facebook is Moonlight Bangkok.

There are three separate Moonlight Bangkok options. One of them links to the club’s site. Look at the picture and you’ll find it. I think,it’s also the one with some Thai wording.

Why complain about the prices? Do you know how long a doctor in the war torn parts of africa would have to save to off a guy in Amsterdam?

We should just give the mamasan our atm card and pin number and let them take what would be considered fair.

Many of us are making more money due to pay raises and promotions and that somehow should be factored in when we are in a different country with their own currency and economic model.

If I were you I would pay twice what they are asking, but since I'm me, and I'm a cheap Charlie, I won't be throwing my money around

I have been told that Moonlight is owned by the same guy as Hotmale. According to ggobkk's recent report, the same guy also owns Screwboys.  A successful and expanding group of bars.  So I think without overly-taxing brain cells it should be possible to conclude that the bars and the particular guys working there are making an informed business decision.  Of course this business decision is entirely selfish on their part.  I, personally, find it hard to feel too sorry for myself or others who might be priced out by some of these decisions.   Good for Moonlight and good for the guys!  They're not operating a charity and they of course should charge as much as they can.  There are plenty of lower cost alternatives out there.

I believe that having a very high off fee is not all that uncommon for coyote dancers and guys in the show.  Admittedly in this case it seems to be prohibitively high - but to repeat what should obvious, the bar and the guys covered by this high price are doing it because it makes financial sense for them.   After all, the theoretical origin of the bar fine/off fee is that it the guys are supposed to be there putting on a show or providing a view and company to customers to entice the customers to buy drinks (the real profit driver of these places).

There are a couple of massage places that let the guys set their minimum tip.  Some guys start at 2,000.  Not for me, thank you, but I don't let it get me upset that they set that price or that some customers out there think the particular guy is such a fantasy-fulfilling attractive packages of man meat that they pay that much.

It does seem silly to me to avoid a place just because there are some guys there who are outside my budget.  If it has a good show or a big display of eye candy, then it's worth the drink.  At least that's my theory.  If I am going out with sole intention of offing someone I suppose Moonlight wouldn't be on my list anyway, but to each his own.  Unless there were a time machine and Tobey Maguire in his prime was available at the bar, I don't think I'ld be paying that sort of off fee, but, alas, he's not here so I don't really have to worry about it.

There are other threads about the merits of this or that airline's business class cabin.  If I'm back in coach I don't feel the bitterness towards the people who are in business class (or god forbid first class) that seems to pervade so many of the "that's too much" commenting about prices here.  The price information is out there so customers can make their own decision about how to spend their own money.

Actually why bother with bar boys....

I witnessed an invasion of Chinese - from Hong Kong, China and Taiwan last week in Thailand.

Well it was public holiday season - from Easter to Ching Ming, the equivalent of Memorial Day from 30 Mar to 8 Apr.

I wasn't at the sauna but was told that Sauna Mania was infested with everything Chinese..

Next week must be the most happening timing in Thailand - and please be ready to get wet.

With the proliferation of visitors, who still need to pay TOP Dollar for the bar boys?

Has Screwboys changed hands? It used to be owned by Kings Group who own girly bars in the same soi.

It might be urban myth but it was said that when it was started in the last century by Pong (?) it was meant to be School Boys but the signwriter misheard.

Caveat emptor. Those of us who have been visiting for years know that bar-fines have usually been around usually around 500 bht. To decide on a companion, sit with him, buy him a drink,  call for the check-bin and then discover that you are required to pay 1000 more than the going-rate seems  to reflect inappropriate behaviour on the part of the bar. The owners know that the customer will find it hard to send the guy back to the stage.

Vinapu's practice of paying by round and not allowing slips to accumulate in the bin seems to be good practice in these venues. It's one thing if you're in a place you frequent and have never had a problem. But when in doubt, settling the tab as the drinks are delivered avoids unpleasant surprises.

I had this rule reinforced when buying rounds at an oft-mentioned Soi 6 bar. The bartender wanted to justify his total with the assistance of a hand-held calculator.  Since I wasn't buying a watch on Patpong I pointed to each boy and how many drinks I had ordered and we reached an amicable agreement. Tips, of course, were handed directly to the guys in order of occurrence. .

I didn't mean to report that Screwboys and Hot Male had the same owner.  I was suffering from a bit of latent jet lag when I wrote my report about Screwboys.  I meant to say that one of the Hot Male staff escorted me from Twilight to Screwboys.  Then when I went to Moonlight on a subsequent night, the Hot Male greeter took me there as he wanted them to know I was a good customer and the two clubs have the same owner.

That said, I agree with DivineMadman on pricing...and being a coach flyer, I don't resent business class flyers.  I'd rather save the money to spend on the boys when I arrive.

I think Anbang1961 is spot on about the Chinese holiday period...massive influx of free spending tourists increases prices.  Moonlight is experimenting with lots of things...let's see where things are in a month or during the rainy season.

1500 baht just to off one of the premium boys?

I hope they don't ask for 5000 baht long time!

be prepared they may but it doesn't mean you need to pay that much, happened to me few times with Tawan and BBB boy, some not even really stunners, they just sensed I like them and tried their extracting techniques on me but price usually went down fast to my usual 3000 but there were some who stand their ground on 4000 and won. But it needs to be said  that with 1 exception I still consider that money well spent.

But 1500 off fee, can't envision me paying that

Vinapu's practice of paying by round and not allowing slips to accumulate in the bin seems to be good practice in these venues.

that's correct , I always pay  invoice as soon as it arrives and always ensure by visiting BTS counter before bar hopping that I have supply of small notes so I don't need to relay on bar providing me correct change. Unfortunately I don't trust bar staff with that.

Usual 3000 for ST is expensive too.

I believe vinapu is quoting LT rate, not ST

You both are right, 3000 for long time ( I rarely off short time, usually only if I want taste the boy and he doesn't do long times), comment I was responding to was about '5000 long time".

Yes it's expensive although I gladly pay it as types I like are not as ubiquitous as twinks and I usually enjoy my time with boy at least 8 hrs so 3000 makes boy-hour still very cheap comparing to 1000 for 1 hr short time , LOL

Too shy to ask in the massage center, especially they aren't normally do long time.

this is what I thought in my much younger years until masseur from now defunct Aqua Spa asked me if I want him to come to my hotel so I can have him whole night. Yes , massage boys do long time, not all of them , not always but they do , money and personal charm   speaks LOL
