Different Experience in BKK

Recommended Posts

Thank god that a Pattaya resident has FINALLY realised that there is life (and sex .....and free sex at that) outside of the pattaya bubble.  I've been saying this for years and some just cant' imagine it and I think their own self worth has dropped that low that they figure ( incorrectly) that thats all they'll ever be able to get now - they're wrong - there's a whole big world out there and its definitely worth checking it out sometimes !

PS....."topped me in his prison officer uniform" no less.....now there's the start of a good porn movie scene if there ever was one ! :)

After a string of disappointing experiences during his time in Pattaya, he's apparently enjoying  a run of consistently positive GR experiences that rival anything I recall reading before. I wish him continued good fortune.

In a recent post on GB's board, he describes an unusual event: the management of his 3,000 bht per night hotel (not named but said to be near Lumpini Park) asked him to check out prematurely because he was bringing guests back to his room. He complied and reports choosing the Siam Heritage Hotel on Surawong which, it  turns out, collects 900 bht joiner's fee.  In 16 years of visits, never had this kind of problem so guess I've just been lucky.

Btw, Wikipedia reports that there are three accepted spellings for Bangkok's main park: Lumphini, Lumpini or Lumpinee).

It was an interesting read. However, I have a longstanding rule: ignore the sex tales. They are so seldom true. This tale may be true but I'll change nothing in my vacation based on it.  I have decided to try the apps this coming trip.  But, not in Bangkok as I'll be there only three days and there is a lot more to do than send messages back and forth. I'll just pick up a cute Viet twink at Screwboy with these guidelines: 1. I know he's a moneyboy 2. knowing that it's up to me to discuss the price and be done with it and 3. it's also up to me to discuss what we will do and 99.9 % of the time it all works out.

Is it dusit hotel? He mentioned that in the post above he brought a guy to dusit. Hmm ive brought guy back before but never a problem.

He paid 3000 baht. I think unlikely you get rooms at the Dusit for that price. Could be be the Crowne Plaza I reckon. Or even the Montien which had a no joiners policy when I stayed there.

Expedia lists availability in Dusit Thani for Monday (27th) for $104 in its annex building (behind but attached to main building). I've seen rates there as low as $87 in past.

as long as I remember there were always occasional warnings on forums  about Siam Heritage being hotel which is charging joiners fees or denying them access so that part is not surprising me at all

87 $ , that is what I pay for 3 nights at Nantra Silom and no problem with guests day or night, even multiple ones.

Yes, and also about the Montein.

Have taken 3 different guys to Dusit Thani in recent years and never had a problem.. The doorman usually nods and smiles.

In any case, it closes Jan. 1 and the replacement (part of a commercial, hotel and condo complex on a larger footprint) will take 5 years to build.

The Nantra is a comfortable budget hotel in a convenient location.

I just wish the cleaning was a little more diligent, since I'm fussy about that and it's about at the limit of what I accept.  But it still remains on my list of "approved" hotels.

Vinapu, the Nantra Silom looks nice and appears very conveniently located. I see various types of rooms are they nice? I saw one room, deluxe, that looked like it was two twin beds together - as they used to do in Europe.

it pretty basic but modern although bit spartan hotel and I like it a lot - good value for money.

They have three types of room , cheapest one is windowless and 1 single bed only. No issue with their beds and as far as I can see whenever I'm there I put them to a good use / I off almost exclusively long time  /.

They even serve free breakfast but it's very basic only tea/ coffee, toast and jam , some fruit , cereal with cold milk but it's still all you can eat format. I usually breakfast at Foodland Patpong and supplement that in hotel with some fruit  upon return.

Recently I was impressed with slightly more expensive Baan Silom in Silom soi 3 recommended  to me by z909

This coming year I have booked the Tarntawan for Bangkok and the Poseiden for Pattaya. Thoughts?

Tarntawan was the very first place I stayed in my first trip in 2002 and was a regular there for many years. For convenience, it's a short walk to most places you'll want to go.

The weekly open bar used to be a great take in when most of the visitors were farangs. It served as a great way to exchange information and learn from the more-seasoned visitors (much in the same way this form functions now, sans the alcohol).

But I began giving it a pass when my aging back began revolting against the ancient mattresses. I had grown very fond of the outgoing elevator guard who always remembered repeat visitors. But now even he has departed for greener pastures. I believe that "Mac," a one-time bell hop and greeter is now in management and a pleasant host.

You'll enjoy your stay there.

I’m at Poseidon at the moment and will head to Tarntawan tomorrow. Jomtien complex is in the midst of a renaissance (?) with new restaurants, a number of new bars, a wine store, and top level French style bread and pastry shop.

Last night, the noise from the street was not blocked by the sound proofing and went on until 7am as one the bars was celebrating it’s 3rd anniversary and kept the party going. Not posting as a complaint as I like bar and was pulled in this morning as I went for my croissant walk.

Poseidon is known for Chef Bart’s cooking. Tasty and beautifully presented in a white table cloth environment. Caution - the food is of a European bent with large portions. Example, last night schnitzel, beef steaks, pork cordon blue, and liver&onions were on the menu. Delicious but heavy - especially in August. If visit contains a Saturday the manager hosts a drinks party for guests.

7:00 am !!!.

Well, we all have our different styles, but I like to be sleeping from 1:00 am.

That's one reason why I try & stay a little further away from the bars.     If a bar kept me awake until that time, the preference would be to take my business elsewhere thereafter.

Although, principles may be tested if they have the cutest boys in Pattaya.
