The Wind in the Willows

All these years and I never knew Wind in the Willows was written as a gay love story.

Come on, guys, spread the word. You've been letting down the side.

Lee Ingleby playing the Water Rat in the 2006 Canadian film version:

(Just a little cheesecake to whet your interest.)

I've never heard of Wind in the Willows, and actor Lee Ingleby does not list this in his IMbd biography. Now, granted, there could be two Lee Inglebys, but how likely is that?

Nonetheless, I see that Wind in the WIllows was a Canadian television production in 2006. If you follow the link from it, you see that Lee was indeed one and the same.

Now, as to the picture above. Who is that? It's not Lee, who would have been 30 when the show was made, and who played the character Mole in it. The character mole couldn't be the guy in the picture:

Lee was transformed into Mole using costume, make-up and prosthetics.

"I wore brown contact lenses over my eyes, which are blue, and my hair was dyed dark black from its usual light brown and grown over my ears, because Mole doesn't have ears. They also added a widow's peak and put mascara on my beard. So I am very dark black all over. I quite like it.

"For my teeth, they put an enamel paint on, which I also had for Nicholas Nickleby. I am destined to have brown bad teeth but I don't mind the look. It just comes off when you are talking sometimes, which is disconcerting.

"My nose is prosthetic and it's strange to have that. I got used to it, apart from a scene where I was drinking wine and could not feel the dew drop of wine at the end of my nose!"

Adds Lee: "I have to wear a big fur coat, and it was incredibly hot walking into the wild wood. There was no shade anywhere."

(BBC Press office)

So who is the guy pictured?

You've both done very well.

And from those 'goodies' pix, I'd say the only charitable conclusion is that the water was quite cold that day.

And now on to the serious stuff of a review:

Has anyone screened Nature Boy yet? If so, are there enough on screen minutes of splashing around (or the equivalent) to warrant viewing the whole miniseries?

PS. I did a little research of my own (just to confirm the obvious). The screen shot in my original post is Mr. Ingleby washing his clothes in Nature Boy and has nothing at all to do with Wind in the Willows. I guess you can't trust random bloggers any more. What's the internet coming to?

LOL, in real life I'd hustle him on into the bedroom before he had a chance to change his mind. :P

He might not meet some folks internet porn standards, but for me he'd do just fine.

Even if that water in Mr. P's goodies post turned out to be warm as soup. ;)
