Kiev Ukraine ?

Recommended Posts

I spent a week, and I think 4 days for just kiev is plenty unless you just like to hang out. I highly recommend the day tour to chernobyl . Very interesting, and despite some fears, you get less radiation visiting there than you do flying in a plane. One of the guys recommended going in late spring or fall. Basically when the trees have lost their leaves. Gives a clearer view of all the abandoned buildings. Good advice, but I enjoyed it just fine in september with all the leaves still on the trees.

Other than that, old churches, and the like in the city. A few museums.

I did not visit any other cities in Ukraine, but heard good things about Lvov in particular, but also Odessa. I might go back to see those at some point, because I still want to visit the baltic states and a revisit to Ukraine would be worth it.

I agree with @caeron on the length of the visit. I’ve been to Kyiv twice, both times around Independence Day, 24 August. It’s full of very cute, lean boys, although there’s not a pride flag to be seen. The Chernobyl tour was excellent in 2018. This year I visited a decommissioned ICBM base about 3 hours SW of Kyiv. It’s also a great walking city, with plenty of parks and hills. I hung out with a few blond guys who I met just moseying around. Two named Kostya!

The Baltics are fantastic. I visited Tallinn and Tartu in Estonia; Rīga and Sigulda in Latvia; and Kaunas and Vilnius in Lithuania. All quite different and all photogenic. The boys in all three are just stunning. Again, never saw a pride flag. I’m told that all of these countries are somewhat homophobic, although no one seems to mind private relationships. My gaydar was pinging for sure.

I went last year (2018)

I met 2 guys on Grindr. One was 19, the other 21. I could have met perhaps 2 or 3 more also. But ran out of time. Both quite nice guys. Not really escorts as such. But willing to see a guy in his late 30's (me) for a fee. Actually, nothing was arranged up front. Just at the end, they asked if I could 'help'. Which was completely expected. And of course I did not mind. I asked how much they would like, and really they would be happy with 50 euros, but i gave them that, plus also 1000 to 1500 UAH, which is only about 25 to 35 Aussie dollars. Plus I gave Maxim, a 50 Aussie note at the end to remember me by! But I think he cashed it in.

Actually both were happy to come back and see me again, which they did (not together).

I actually not into penetration at all, so really, just kissing, sucking, plus massage and feeling there bodies. plus we went out to dinner a couple of times, and I went to the market and got some drinks. So I'm easy!

But yes, I like Kiev, I've been now 5 times. I'm quite shy so I don't really go up to anyone in the street. But lots of beautiful straight guys around.

Actually I think Ukraine, and Kiev are on the move, after some pretty tough economic times (and still not great). I say this to people, and they don't believe me, but Kiev is so cheap for an Australian (and therefore cheap for an American). It's actually cheaper than Thailand or Bali for eating and drinks. And a single trip on the metro costs something like 20 cents.

I have only been in the summer I should add. I would like to go in winter, but a Aussie like me would probably freeze to death!

wow.. i want to visit there. thx

Please do visit Ukraine. They are wonderful people and they need more tourists. Virtually all of the young people speak English well and they’ll be glad to teach you a few Ukrainian words. L’viv is also worth a visit. As a former part of Austria-Hungary, it is much more Central European looking, with an awesome fin-de-siécle opera house. Next year I want to visit Odessa and Khar’kiv.

I'm hoping on visiting Odessa later this year. Love Kyiv!

I stayed in a great Airbnb right off Khreschatyk, across from Mandarin Plaza, which host a Tiffany, among other name brands. The boys are so hot there. Now I’m in Minsk. Just as hot, but the homophobia here is well-documented, so just being a tourist. Minsk is famous for its cleanliness, and that’s no joke. Big broad boulevards, prosperous looking areas and monumental Soviet architecture. Really very impressive.

My gaydar had more than a few pings, though. Especially the waiters!

Interesting to read that...i'm sure there are many closeted men.

Been to Ukraine as part of a larger trip in Eastern Europe and I agree with all the comments posted so far. It's one of the nicest countries in the entire continent, and almost unspoiled by mass tourism. It's rare to feel so genuinely welcome in places just for being a foreign tourist.

The scene is really nothing worth mentioning, save for a couple of places in Kiev that might end up closing down forever because of the pandemic. Shame, but still a very mediocre scene for such a large city.

Escorts: there are far more then there used to be just a few months ago. Very cheap compared to western Europe, of course the ones on rentmen still ask 100 euros and above. I haven't tried but I'm sure you can get better looking guys for a fraction of the price on local websites like bluesystem, which is a bit of a pain to use (cyrillic, use google translate for everything). Plenty of handsome guys looking for a sponsor, that's how they call it. They're also well hung, anything under 18cm is rare, and they're really good in bed, if you like the passionate, gentle yet rough style.

Kiev, Odessa and Lviv are absolutely gorgeous and deserve all the time you can spend there. Highly recommended destination.

Where did you stay in Kiev @funic? Did you meet guys by using Grindr?

I've stayed in Khreschatyk City Center Hotel the first two times I visited. A nice 80s iron curtain style hotel - refurbished recently.

And more lately Theatre Boutique Apart Hotel.

Both located centrally and both OK with guys visiting at all hours.

Met guys off Grindr and Hornet.

Let me know when you visit - I'll see if I can come too and meet for a beer!

The Chernobyl tour is a good day out.

I stayed in a rental apartment by the Maidan square area, not too far from the subway (it's a huge city so have a station nearby). There were some guys on grindr however it seems that grindr isn't that hot and popular- it was absurd for example to see very few guys in Odessa, a major city, and even less in Lwow (I could see profiles in Poland after 1am).

As mentioned, bluesystem seems to have pretty much every escort in the former USSR. Rent.men and hunqz are decent alternatives. Unlike Serbia, I haven't been contacted by escorts there, but things could have changed in the last year.

What's bluesystem? Is it a website?

It's a Russian based website with ads and personals, and its users have the option to list themselves as providing escort services/looking for an escort. It's like a planetromeo with the option to put yourself available as an escort without switching to the hunqz separate site.

It's quite a pain in the ass of a website to use (google translate is a must if you cannot read cyrillic), but there's literally all of the former USSR in there, especially dozens of guys in cities where romeo/hunqz/rent.men/grindr are almost empty.

Could someone please explain to me what "wagon" and "asset" are in sex role/position?

"Универсал" means not Station wagon as google translates, but "universal", i.e. versatile

"Уни" is a short form

"asset" is apparently a translation of Актив="active", i.e. top.

This is what I always complain about translating slavic languages (including Czech) to English. "Versatile" comes out "station wagon". Jibberish.

I learned German rather well in part because I wanted to understand their profiles, which are often long reads :D

I took German and French and German is incredibly easy it's so much like English, as is the accent. But Slavic languages ! Poles and Czechs, especially, did themselves no favor converting to the Roman alphabet which made necessary so many accent marks , that as @numerito pointed out to me, most ordinary people do not use texting, making translation impossible.
