Egypt update

Thanks for another brilliant north Africa post!

After a five year absence, I'm returning to Egypt in April/March.

It is indeed the working-class guys who love to be serviced, but the more middle-class guys are more prissy about it. However, the Nile Hilton health club steam room used to be a nonstop orgy.

Don't you find that extra eye contact plus a grin will trigger a horny young Egyptian's interest on the street just about anywhere in the evening!?

Be sure to check out santiaodc's Tunisia report too:

Oh, dear Lord... absolutely! After 20 years of traveling there I have begun to believe that every young Arab male is secretly bi-curious or just so horny that he just needs to get off somehow. If he can do it for money, he at least believes he is doing it not because he is gay but because his family or he needs the money. In some instances, as you may know, you may be talking with them and they will lightly touch your ass. At that point I get excited because they want not just a blow job but some serious action! I will be back in Egypt myself in July.

On my one trip to Egypt, I agree that the young men seemed very sexy & either curious or very horny.

One day on the Cairo Metro, I was waiting on the platform at Tahrir Square with an Egyptian guy on crutches.  The train arrived, we both got on but there were no seats.   There were 2 nice-looking, young (early 20's), tall, fit guys who were sitting down & next to them a sour-faced gent in gray clerical garb.  The older guy gestured to the 2 young guys & one guy stood up & gave his seat to the guy on crutches.  The young guy then sat down on the lap of his friend & they were still sitting together like that when I got off the train!

Hi santiaodc, thanks for the useful info - Id like to visit Egypt and a few other bits of Nth Africa once travel is a back on. Quick question - theres some older material around the net about the boat tours at Luxor being a good option, but you include it under your scam comments. So would you suggest, if looking for a hook up, avoiding the boat tours completely in Luxor but try them in Aswan instead?

santiaodc,

There used to be one or two theaters where the balconies were filled with action. And even in the more proper theaters, when an action movie brought in almost entirely young guys, I'd always have a few come sit beside me for a hand job.  Did you check out any theaters in your recent trip?  I guess they are all closed.

Are all the awesome hammams closed too? Those used to filled with horny young workers and soldiers looking for someone to drain them.

Speaking of soldiers, I'll never tire of watching fit, masculine, young Egyptian soldiers kissing each other on each side of the mouth, holding hands, and walking along entwined.

Thanks a lot for this information! When was the last time you were in Egypt and Tunisia? How hung are the guys?

Based on a large sample of regular, masculine, working-class guys (not like the self-selected extreme who, in other countries, might display themselves online or in saunas or in porn) the answer is that most are a resounding average to slightly above average -- with the usual bell-shaped curve around the mean.

Throughout the Middle East and Maghreb, nearly all are cut of course.

Most notable was that they were invariably hard as a crowbar and so horny/excited that they often blasted very, very, very quickly.

Thanks again for detailed info!

You got them to last as long as two minutes sometimes! Impressive.  My guys always blasted in less than a minute, sometimes somehow within seconds!

I found that, rather than resident pros who know the score, it was always extra fun, when the opportunity arose, to connect with excited Egyptian tourists who had never talked to a white guy, such as young men from El Fayoum visiting Cairo, from Matrouth visiting Alexandria, from a western oasis visiting Luxor.

I've been all over Egypt, including the western oases, with the exception of the Sinai.  I figured: Why go see all French and Germans at Sharm El Sheikh when I can see plenty of Egyptians elsewhere?

So... one more question to the master santiaodc:

Have you visited Sharm and, if so, do you recommend it at a place to see and to play?

Oh my! It sounds as though you and I have travelled to many of the same places. Twenty years ago I began the quest to explore the ancient Roman, Early Christian, Byzantine, and Crusader sites of northern Africa and the Middle East. I did extreme western Egypt about 10 years ago. I took a Land Rover up to Marsa Matru, Sidi Barrani, and El Salloum. I then came back through Siwa Oasis to Bahariya Oasis and along the famous Oasis route 60. Another year I did the whole Abu Simbel to Port Said trip. I wanted to head over to Sharq El Owainat but the driver was too scared. I had completed the whole Alexandria to Abu Simbel trek many times via car, train, plane, and boat (Nile and Canal).

I visited Sharm El-Sheikh two years ago because I wanted to do the whole St. Catherine monastery trek and climb the mountain of Charleton Heston. Sharm was filled with more Russian, German, and UK tourists than Egyptians it seemed. Easy Jet had made the place quite accessible. I stayed at Tropitel Waves Naama Bay and had a good experience. A gay Egyptian friend from Alexandria told me that the Sharm is certainly ripe now for gays to explore with some male fun. Previously the guys mainly were only interested in the money and sex of the countless old foreign women that were there. With the collapse of the tourist market, most hotels are closed and my friend said it was almost to the point that the guys were even paying HIM to suck them off when he visited. I found only one guy in my resort hotel for sex (a room attendant). Outside the resort, I tried the supposed Marine Park by the Albatross Hotel. I had no luck there, nor the corners of High El Noor and Nabaq as mentioned on the web. So, I went west and decided to take a walk along the beach on the other side of the Beach Albatros Sharm (El-Bahr). I went north along the beach and saw many young men smiling at me and rubbing their crotches on offer. I got excited, but I could see no place to do the deed anywhere nearby in the day light. I walked further up to the public beach area until I was stopped by a resort wall/border. I had to leave to get back for a flight, so I never had a chance to explore the area better. I would think it might be ripe for fun in the late evening, not unlike the Kornish in Sousse! Maybe you or someone else has more recent information! I have never been much into staying inside a resort for a week and the shark viewing experience pales in comparison to the one I did in Cape Town. So, it really depends on your interest. Sharm is a nice location to start if you then like to explore history with St Catherine’s and the suppose Mount Sinai!

Cheers!

Thanks, Santiaodc, for another very interesting & informative set of posts!

As for Luxor, I would say that novice visitors should be prepared for a whole lot of touristic hassle, every day & pretty much everywhere in Luxor.  If you relax & see it all as a game, maybe you can have some fun but I found it a bit overwhelming at first.

Question: any experiences/comments regarding Alexandria?

I've been to Alexandria four times and, unlike many other places in the region, I rarely felt being checked out by testosterone-filled young guys needing release and a few bucks.

I did have a some hot encounters the first trip long ago that made me want to return but the later trips were pretty uneventful. Some of the previously lucky venues had been closed and I did not find any replacement. Nothing like elsewhere in Egypt. But sometimes it's just a roll of the dice of course.

Maybe guru Santiaodc has some more updated tips.

My experience is similar to that Xclay. I had traveled there before, but the fun 10 years ago is quite different now. I was there for only three days last February before Covid hit the country. I was staying near the Corniche which has long been the place where street cruising occurs (in fact, any corniche in any northern Africa or Middle Eastern country is usually a great place for cruising). The trek to take is to start from the Alexandrian library to the east side, and then walk west along the corniche. If you are a single white older guy then you will get the smiles and winks. Now, the walk is quite nice, especially at night. During the day you can walk west and end it at the Citadel/Fort. You can then check out the cool fish market if it is operating, along with stopping at any of the cafes along the corniche as you walk back. BUT… here’s the warning I found from this last trip. On the first night, I walked with a female French colleague along the corniche. When I was getting to the Citadel, one of the usual sexy young male vendors approached us to sell us some popcorn. We bought some, and then we chatted for a few minutes. Suddenly two plainclothes men came up to us speaking Arabic and flashed they badges. One took the young man aside and started yelling at him, whilst the other asked for our ID. They asked us why we were talking to the guy and we told him. He then let us go. BUT… the young kid was yelled at in front of other people and then slapped several times on the head. My colleague who speaks Arabic said the young man was being told he was not allowed to talk with foreigners. Fast forward the next night. I went out walking again but this time alone. I saw the same young man now carrying a box with balloons he had blown up and modelled into figures. He was trying to sell them to people. This time I smiled, gave him the look up and down, and then kept walking. He followed me but started walking to my side. He kept whispering “police, police” and motioning with his head behind him. We separated and nothing came to be. I got to the Citadel/Fort and noticed police were taking away two western men and one young boy. I watched for a few minutes and noticed that there must have been 10-15 plainclothes police officers gathering around this arrest. I decided to turn around and start my way back. Right behind me I then saw one of the two plainclothes policemen from the day before had been following me all along. One might suggest that they are just watching out for the safety of foreigners. One might also say, as has been noted in the Gay press about Egyptian arrests, that they were targeting gays along the corniche as part of their normal crackdown on locations known to be gay cruising areas. I also tried the one Hammam listed in the gay cruising guides but there was no action there. I did not burn Alexandria’s port or library, but I did turn my back to it and head south of Cairo where the fun was less problematic.

Thank you, Santiaodc, after reading your post, I got the idea to definitely visit Egypt in your footsteps.
And of course I had a number of questions.
Question 1: Since I plan to start my trip to Egypt from Hurghada in April - arrival on the Pegasus overnight flight from Istanbul at 00:20 - does it make sense to look for an adventure on your ass for the night looking right after arrival? If - yes, then where exactly to look for these adventures?
For example, the Aguarius sauna helps me out with this plan in Istanbul.

Santiaodc, thanks for the detailed answer.
Yes, I am going to visit Egypt for the first time. And I believe that my first mistakes as a tourist will be inevitable. I have nothing against if they fuck me (cheat) for little money, provided that they literally fuck me. My report is required.
What worries me most is that during my stay in Egypt from April 2 to May 12, there will be the month of Ramadan with its restrictions. Unfortunately, I don't know much about Arab culture, much less about Arab members, which is why I planned my trip so thoughtlessly. Will Ramadan stand in the way of getting to know Arab dicks? Or should I postpone my trip to Egypt for another time?

Basks,

You raise an interesting point. I have travelled twice to Egypt during Ramadan and actually experienced only limited problems. I saw about half of the small restaurants closed as there was no eating until sunset... and thus no need for them to remain open during the day. Mind you, there were still lots of places open to eat in the tourist areas. Similarly while some small historical sites closed up, it was also the case that the MAJOR tourist sites remained open. At the end of the day, they want AND need your tourist money... so many more will probably be open this year than in the past.

As for the sex, that is harder to address. You can already see by the sheer number of guys letting you suck their dick (or them fucking you) that their Muslim religious sensibility is a bit... how shall we say... flexible! So, I found them just as horny and just as willing during Ramadan as other times for their dick to please me... both during the day and night.

So, it is a tough call. If you set your expectations low and just go with the flow to get your feet wet for the first time in Egypt, then you will have a great time. The second trip will then be even better. If there are no plans to ever return to Egypt AND you can adjust your schedule, then you might want to do so such that you can get the maximum value/opportunities for that one trip to Egypt in your lifetime.
