spoon
Sad news indeed. Hope the bars will be able to withstand this new round of closure
anddy
Uhm, why would the gogo bars close? I assume you mean the gay ones in Patpong, which is in Bangrak. The closure only affects three areas where the latest cluster occurred. Quote The decision to temporarily close the venues in Klong Toey, Watthana and Bang Khae was reached at the Bangkok's communicable disease committee on Monday evening. tm_nyc
spoon
If i read correctly, it says that bangkok now enter red zone, not total closure but alcohol ban and closed by 9pm. I assume this have impact to the gogo bars? And it mentioned that closure will happen if there is a case reported in the bar. An entertainment venue will be closed immediately for two weeks if an infection is detected on the premises. If infections cover a large zone of entertainment venues and cannot be contained, provincial authorities will have authority to close the zone or seal off the entire province, Dr Apisamai said. Lets hope it doesnt goes to this.
anddy
yes Bangkok is now a red zone, but still they only imposed restrictions on the areas around Thonglor and Ekkamai, where the cluster occurred. May not exactly be in line with their whole color coded rules, but who cares about rule consistency? TiT!

We have seen many of these before. Many are amended. It needs to be signed off by the Big Boss Thailand tomorrow, Friday. Notwithstanding the comment that there will be no U Turn remember TIT. So, wait until tomorrow to see how much this is watered down. Let’s all keep fingers crossed!

TotallyOz
I am expecting a major uptick in closures post Songkran. It happened last year, and with traveling done by so many during the holiday, I expect it will happen again.
Londoner
Hundreds of thousands of Thais will be on the road as I write. Usually, the fear is that many won't arrive at their destinations owing to road accidents. Now the fear is that they will arrive.... and bring the virus with them. spoon
Apparently i read the news that several bangkok hospitals suspended covid testing due to shortage of testing kit as a result of recent rise in cases. https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/a-dozen-bangkok-hospitals-suspend-covid-19-testing-amid-shortages
TotallyOz
Here is a site that shows where you can get tested. https://service.dmsc.moph.go.th/labscovid19/indexen.php Go to the Search section and type the city name where you want to go. Currently, there are high demands for the tests. Call the hospital/clinic first before you go. You can check up to date COVID-19 information from the Thai Government Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/thailandprd/
