Watch your phone in the Sauna!

I just returned from a wonderful trip to Brazil. One safety suggestion I would pass along is to watch your phone very carefully if you take it to the cabin to maybe snap a pic or two of your new friend. I took a GP at 202 the other night upstairs for some fun and brought my phone along. I didn't even snap any pics of him but when I exited the shower in the cabin after some fun my new iPhone which was on the floor next to the bed was gone(the guy was still there). I asked him rather firmly where my cellular was and he gave me a look like "I don't know." At this point I figured he had passed it off to a friend and it was gone forever. He made a big show of showing me his bag and lifting up the sheets to show me the phone was not there. When I kept on repeating "where is my cellular!" he lifted up the mattress and somehow it was there. Funny how it made it from the floor to under the mattress. I think he thought I wouldn't notice it missing and he would retrieve it later. In the future I am just going to leave my phone secure in the locker.

This sounds like a very strange story dude...the guys in the sauna don't steal because they want repeat business AND if you had went to the front desk and even said something about your phone missing, they would be banned from the saunas...

A cellphone, no matter how nice is not worth them losing out on tons of money they can make during this upcoming busy season...

Ive been going to the sauna for YEARS and have never worried about anything getting stolen in the saunas....

I agree! Very strange and that's why I shared it. I've been going for years and never had a problem either. Maybe it was a guy who was only an occasional GP and saw an opportunity. I thought about what I would do if I had actually lost it.  I realized that there are no real English speakers in Pointe 202 and it would have been hard to explain what happened to the front desk.

On another night I saw one of the GP in the bar area with that panicked look on his face when he realized his cell was gone. He was sure it was stolen until he realized one of his friends had his phone. Phones--especially nice ones are a hot commodity in Brazil

Most of my experiences in the sauna have led me to believe that the guys are sweet, hard working and honest to the point where I think all of the warnings about "never bring one home" are a bit overblown. That being said I thought I would pass this along as a caution to not let your guard down.

By the way--Pointe 202 packed on Monday , Wednesday, and Fridays--feels like the old days are back!

Succinctly put @floridarob And if more people did as you do, there would be many fewer sad reports of assault (and worse).

A Brasilian friend once told me....if they suck cock for money, there's no telling what else they're capable of doing. Either at the sauna or my room, they are not out of my sight....I make them either shower with me or talk to me in the bathroom while I'm in the shower. If I have to use the toilet, I send them to the store for something.....I don't like overnights either, hate sleeping with one eye open, lol

Absolutely agree. You can never be too careful. Overnight is out of the question. Even a short nap makes me nervous.

If they are from a club or place that does offs pretty accurate.....before apps, street or park cruising, DJ Station, G.O.D. , karaoke bars and now even on the apps.....I have some stories. This is the risk of what we like to do....try minimizing the risk by avoiding certain places, people or behavior.....but what fun is that 😝

I have heard too many stolen phone stories in Brazil, from both Brazilians and foreigners.  They happened on metros, buses, clubs, restaurants, malls, streets all the time.  I myself lost a phone in a club. So I always put my phone in a hidden pocket inside my pants. And I always bring a backup phone (or my old phone) and a spare sim card with me to Brazil just in case.

Do not leave your wallet and phone out of sight when you have a visitor in your hotel room(lock them all up in the safe) or in your sauna suite.

After reading your story, I will buy one of those water proof phone ziplock bag so I can bring my phone to shower next time😆.

I have tried, but decided I am not attracted to Thais.  Negotiating sex with Asians(including Thais) are too complicated.  On top of that, they often didn't deliver what they promise and I just had to pay them to leave.  My first time in Brazilian sauna was an eye opening experience,  and I had no desire to visit Thailand ever since.

Just curious about how the negotiation is different. Brazilians do not renege on their promises? But even if they do, will you risk going into an argument? I always feel that can be risky, not to mention if you are in a foreign country.

I had many instances in Thailand where the guys could not even get erection, and still keep smiling faces. That's when you know you are scammed.  If there is a mama sun involved, you can probably go through the lengthy unpleasant process to pay a minimum fee and  return the guy.  If there is no mama sun, you are out of luck.  But in Brazilian saunas, I never had guys with erectile dysfunction problems.  Now, whether they perform with enthusiasm or not is another story, but Brazilian GPs I had were all capable of performing the sexual acts as promised.

My statement was more towards "not delivering what was promised" than "paying the guy to leave".  Of course I will pay the guy to leave just to avoid troubles, anytime anywhere in the world.

Does anybody here think that in Brazil you need to take more precautions than in other place, when interacting with or inviting a prostitute to your home?

When I have used escorts in the states . Which I can only speak on. I have two people steal from me. And what they stole was a broken phone and and extremely old iPad. So I didn't let them in my house ever again. But I said all that because you have people snatching phones backpacks and bags out of hands of pedestrians in San Francisco around the tenderloin district. So Brazil, Colombia, and other places are the same. You just have to be cautious.

You are lucky then

I remember I met at least 2 garotos at 117 who cannot get erection, the excuse is that they just cum for anther client

I have not met such Garoto in Lagoa though

Perhaps we should all be very clear to the GP what exactly is expected before hiring.  If any of the specific sex acts is not delivered, there will be no payment, or a small payment like 20(or 50) Reals.

I've never been robbed at a sauna, and once I even forgot to lock my locker and nothing was missing. However, I definitely witnessed an incident about 5-7 years ago. A couple garotos were hanging around the door of the customer locker room at the old Lagoa, where they're not supposed to enter. I figured they were just scoping for business or waiting for a client to get money. Some time later, I saw the staff quietly remove the door (its hinges had been screwed off) and an American-sounding guy claiming robbery. So it does happen. Trust but verify and don't tempt. Have fun but be careful.

One time at Babylon someone broke into my locker and took money from my wallet.  I was careful not to bring any credit cards with me, just money for the evening, so it didn’t amount to much, maybe 500-1000.  They took what I had but very kindly left about 100 baht to make sure I could get home.  A thoughtful thief.  I was actually rather touched. Only in Thailand.

About 10 years ago I was in the change room at old Lagoa getting dressed preparing to leave. A Brazilian guy opened his locker and in  a highly agitated state ran around the locker room with his pants pointing to his empty pockets. I don’t speak Portuguese but I didn’t have to. It was clear he had been robbed. He asked everyone the number for the police (that I did understand.) I might add the guy on the front desk showed no interest. As I left the building the victim was on his phone presumably ringing the police.

At Pointe 202 there is a very attentive locker room attendant. It would be hard to break into one of the lockers there without him seeing it. He did hit me up for a tip the nights I was there which I gladly gave. My near loss was in one of the Cabines which I had always thought of as a safe zone and that is why I posted my experience. Also I realized the bar area has a lot of activity and distraction and after a couple of drinks it would not be hard to imagine your phone taking a walk if you set it down and weren't paying attention. I still feel the saunas are very safe and you won't be physically harmed in any way but just pay attention to your valuables.

The current locker room attendant at Point 202 is a hard-working and very honorable guy. Tip him and he will watch after you and your things very well.

There are cameras in the locker room area
