Brazil sauna question

Recommended Posts

As a newcomer to this forum it’s great reading all the topics and posts.  I’ve never been to a sauna in any part of the world and have only become interested in idea, which makes me quite the latecomer as I’m decidedly middle aged!  Has anyone else has such a mid life awakening?

Brazil is absolutely the location of my fantasies now, I’ve had many a boner from reading about the adventures of others.  It’s great to read that the rent boys all practice safe sex and the saunas are drug free.  But on that note do they allow poppers in the saunas and are they classified as drugs in Brazil?  Reading some stories I don’t know how I’d take some of the massive cocks on offer without some help!

while the saunas are generally safe, they aren’t drug free - don’t be surprised if you are offered hard drugs for sale in Brazil & Spain.  nobody will force the issue, but it’s definitively going on in the background.  smoking marijuana in Spanish saunas is very common & not an issue.  Unfortunately, drug use is rampant among male sex workers and obviously can affect performance.  Drug use also tends to be correlated with other bad behavior. If you get the drug vibe, go the other way - they’re pretty easy to spot.

I’ve taken poppers into Brazil many times without issues. They used to be an oddity there, but now I see them used frequently in Brazilian amateur porn.  Same with Spain

About drugs, just use your common sense. I am getting a prejudiced vibe here. I know many people do not make a distinction, or do not believe in the distinction between users and abusers, but I do. Let's hope you are not counting mariguana as a drug. Besides breathing in a cloud of pot in all my trips to Brazil (except my first one to Salvador), a few times I have shared cocaine with a few garotos that I assessed reliable and safe .

Was this in the saunas?

Just be careful bringing the poppers with amyl nitrate into Brazil or having possession of them in the country. Unlike in most parts of the USA, poppers made out of anyone nitrate are a controlled substance. Amyl Nitrite is a drug that requires a prescription in Brazil. Attempts to bring them into the country or even possession could result in jail / prison time and deportation. “Could” doesn’t necessarily mean “will”, though.

cocaine is all over the sauna scene.  some people say it works for sex, but my observation is it impairs performance.  it’s not my cup of tea and certainly wouldn’t hire anyone using.  it’s not a judgment - just a personal preference.

I did not do any trade in the saunas, and no one ever offered me anything there. I bonded with a couple of sauna boys, we hang out at my place, and they got the treats in one occassion. During another trip I hooked up with a sauna boy who was also dealing, we left the sauna to get some treats from his place, and then ended partying in my nest.

About consume, in the saunas we only sniffed some of the stuff we purchased somewhere else, and I did not smoke weed because I was drinking and the mix of cannabis and alcohol is not good for my spirit. I do not remember smelling pot, but smelling pot is something that I can easily ignore and forget about, as it is normal to me.

Like in the States or in any gay nightclub/bar/circuit scene, just as I tend to avoid hard / recreational drug users, they tend to avoid me as well. Like attracts like. I’ve managed to visit Brazil regularly for 12 years now and have not had one experience with a garoto using anything “harder” than smoking weed in my presence (although I have been asked by a few before, I always decline and let them know it’s not my thing). The beach scene is also rife with drug offers, and easy to find, or turn down / avoid, if you so choose.

If a garoto needs some substance to work, that's a first warning sign to me not to hire him.  But if he is stunning and absolutely my type,  I sure can offer him a Viagra for free.

I was passing through Security at Goiania Airport... when the xray machine found a bottle of poppers in my hand luggage!  The two female security staff then had me take the bottle out.  She held it up.  There was a bit of chatter and it was clear they had no idea what it was.  They gave me one of those plastic bags to put it in.

A lucky escape I guess.

Chatter = “Ele não embalou seu equipamento de autoasfixia junto com seu nitrato de amila e tudo o que temos a oferecer é um pouco de plástico.”

I would put the popper in checked luggages. I don't think I need it during the flight.

I’m bemused by all the chat about poppers/amyl nitrite. Major airlines prohibit you from transporting it in checked and hand baggage. I recall that BA specifically highlighted its flammability. So travel with it is very much AYOR.

Most of them take their own generic viagra before working so they can perform for many of the guys that they arent attacted to.....Viagra is plentiful and very cheap in Rio....

If you werent hiring based on some substance needed to work, you would have slim pickings

I have been traveling with poppers for YEARS and never had a problem...as long as you arent traveling with a whole box, I don't think the airline cares about 1 or 2 small bottles...there are a ton of other things that we travel with on a daily basis that are flammable....

Generic viagra is the viagra you can buy online from India without prescription in your own western countries.  Although the quality is questionable, many people buy it because it's a lot cheaper than the real ones.  However, personally I don't mind getting my doctor's prescription and paying for the real ones.  It's a small price to me, considering the risks of potential problems from those generic pills.

Most medications (except over the counter like ibuprofen) in Brazil requires (by law) that you show a medical prescription in the pharmacy counter in order to buy it - like viagra or Cialis. It is never enforced. Just ask at the counter for viagra (original or generic) and no one will bat an eye for it , and you will get  it.
The only medications that the pharmacist will require an prescription are the special drugs (like steroids and opioids) that the law mandates retention of your prescription.  Oh , antibiotics too requires retention of prescription now, but not a “special prescription” other drugs need.

The same drugs that you need a prescription for are available in Rio at most of the pharmacies without a prescription..

The US is one of the few countries that make buying simple drugs with a prescription mandatory...

The chain drug stores have pharmacists working inside who will assist you...

Last month when we were there, I had an allergic reaction to something that caused eye irritation that regular Visine was doing nothing for.  The pharmacist asked me what the problem was and recommended some drops for me...

I have been buying antibiotics and viagra for YEARS in Rio...

Its the same drugs from some of the well known US based drug companies...

Last time (2 years ago), the clerk at the drugstore won't sell me Ambien (sleeping pills) without a prescription.  They could not produce a prescription at the store either.

What? You mean all these hot, young, built Carioca sex workers aren’t turned on just by looking at these Orville Redenbacher / Danny DeVito lookalikes?

You don’t say….

So American to think the their approved FDA drugs are superior quality than those produced in other countries.

I have been consuming generic viagra for years, and it works perfectly. I did not notice any difference when I switched from the original brand. In Buenos Aires you can buy it in neighborhood pharmacies without a prescription. That is the secret, at least in Argentina: do not go to pharmacy chains but to small hood stores.
