Anal cancer

Recommended Posts

Does anybody know what anal cancer looks like?

The last couple of days I have had a lump outside my anus,my bf says it looks very dark red ..it doesnt hurt

I'm trying to see a proctortologist saw they are charging $400 but I need treatment urgently if it's cancer ,I'm not sure if it will spread to lungs etc

It doesn't hurt at all ,it's been there a few days now no blood which could mean anything

Anyone know someone who has had  anal cancer ?

How long did they live for?

It is but , I'm coughing a lot today not sure if it has spread to my lungs

I will have to go see the same doctor who I saw earlier this year when I thought I had throat cancer

It's going to be embarrassing telling him I could have anal cancer now

It is probably hemorrhoids. That fits the description and what I've experienced a few times.  It manifests, at least for me, as a red lump that can be just annoying to painful.

I understand the fear of the big C, but I think hemorrhoids is far, far more likely.  A quick google suggests that 80% of anal disease cases are that. It also suggests that Anal cancer is internal to the anus in the anal canal, not on the exterior.

Wish you luck, but suggest you try to keep the fear in check. Anxiety, speaking from personal experience, sucks. Try not to feed it.

Try some Preparation H suppositories to see if they give you some relief....anal cancer doesn't just show up one day THAT obvious, you should be screened for it, because by your age and sexual preference, you've more than likely had HPV which increases the risk or that type of cancer.

You remind me of a friend I have....any lump/blister/pimple I have...he always says it's a tumor 🙄

Thank you for mentioning GARDASIL 9. What I have learned about it: it is not recommended (nor found to be effective) for individuals aged 45+.  Yes, it does provide some protection from HPV (Human Papillomavirus) but does not treat cancer or genital warts.  Definately, a medical professional should be consulted especially before once again engaging in sexual or physical contact with anyone.

This cancer lump seems to be disappearing, I will leave for a few days to see ,but I must also get my lungs checked .

I was in a bar the other day someone smoking nearby have been coughing ever since , hopefully not yet into lung cancer

I'm hoping this anal cancer doesn't come back or had spread , I will try to get a blood test next week asap

The best advice I can offer is to stop fearing that any physical problem you suffer is a symptom of cancer. I know it 's difficult but, in terms of your general well-being, those fears are probably more damaging than the symptoms you are noticing.

How? I really haven't got the answer but I do know that googling symptoms is not the way.

Do you really need a specialist to determine if it’s cancer? Couldn’t a GP suffice at a lower rate?

The OP engages in dangerous sexual activity.  But, yes, the starting point is typically the primary care physician.  However, I'm getting the impression that his home country does not provide adequate health care coverage.

It does not treat cancer or warts, it prevents cancer and warts.  It might not be effective if you’re over 45, but it might be.

My doctor recommended it, even though I was over 50 at the time. It’s expensive but the chance of maybe preventing cancer seems money well spent.

Im getting my second dose in a few weeks of the Gardasil 9 vaccine in Pattaya at Pulse. Received the first one in Bangkok a short while ago.

I received Gardasil when 65 yo and no questions asked, if fact, the staff at the clinic were pleased to see me get it. Not sure if in Thailand or home country.

I am in the anal cancer screening (once a year) since I have abnormal cells (AIN 1,2). Sample from the anal wall (specialised surgeon will take it) must be inspected in lab to confirm pre-cancer or cancer cells, there may be nothing visible. Anal cancer is rare, science is not aligned how to treat them in pre-cancer stage (like abnormal cells) some even question why then to screen those abnormal cells. If it develops into cancer, then treatment is standard. I dont see or feel anything, its really game on the cell level. My doc said if they develop further he removes them with laser. They may come back or not.
