But it still employs slave labour! If you are a Singaporean, you work five days a week. If you are one of the foreign maids working there, you work seven days a week with no time off. Finally, after a campaign lasting more than ten years, from the start of next year, foreign maids – who mostly come from the Philippines, Indonesia, India and Sri Lanka – will be entitled to a weekly rest day. But that will only apply to new hires. Existing maids on existing contracts will still have to work a seven-day week.
