  2. Getting there. It was second trip this year inspired by arrival of other members. In July spoon with news of him coming to Bangkok soon made me packing my meagre belongings and flying there. This time it was 18past19 with the same inspiration. I couldn’t deprive myself of pleasure of seeing old friend and boy hunting with him so I bought my ticket, send the news of arrival to Jason 1975 who after few days announced his another weekend trip and soon was on my way. This trip was evenly split between Thailand and Cambodia with 9 nights in either country. It did not start well but old saying ‘all is well what finishes well” applied this time too. My flight out was past mi…

The ongoing unrest in the Middle East made me hesitant to book new flight tickets to Thailand. I’ve always flown with a layover in Qatar, and occasionally via Dubai, simply because I prefer not to spend 12 hours straight on a plane; I like having the journey broken up halfway through. Plus, being a bit of a luxury-seeker, I enjoy flying business class, which is often significantly cheaper when routed through the Middle East compared to direct flights and the quality of business class offered by airlines from the Arab states is exceptionally high. However, in August, I spotted a great deal I couldn’t pass up, this time with Etihad Airways. For the past few years, I’ve cons…

  6. Thai authorities are finally cracking-down on the ghastly so-called "Israelis" who have been terrorising Thailand for years now, with everything from death threats to trashing hospitals, to creating "No Thais" zones in Thailand. See the following from today's Bangkok Post: Authorities search Jewish buildings in Bangkok (LINK) This particular raid appears aimed at the dark Chabad movement, which I regard as a hate group. Among their teaching are that “only Jews have divine souls” and is very popular with "Israelis" in Thailand. They try to censor any exposés of their dark teachings in the mainstream press and have gained a following with many of the "Israelis" who come t…

Greetings to All! I am going to post this here since it is in reference to someone in Thailand. I received a text message this morning via What's App from someone who says we met in Bangkok asking for assistance. Here is the message which I have copied and pasted: "I'm just trying to find help from people I know. I'm sorry if I'm bothering you. Due to the storm, my house was flooded, and my mother was electrocuted by a faulty electrical wire. She was rushed to the hospital this morning, but passed away this afternoon. I'm currently at the bus station to go back to my hometown for my mother's funeral. But I really have no money left. I haven't had any customers for a …

I receive a travel newsletter via email that I subscribe to and in the most recent issue there was a link with information about possible new tourist fees under consideration by the Thai government. Wasn't sure if anyone was aware of this or had heard something similar. Here is the link to the article: No Work All TravelNew Tourism Fees for Thailand Coming Soon? - No Work All...With the possibility of two new tourism fees for Thailand, your trip to the most visited country in SE Asia might get a bit more costly.

It seems it's not only @jimmie50 who's gone MIA but I haven't seen @floridarob and @Olddaddy posting for sometime either. @Olddaddy has been especially subdued since his return from Thailand. I hope you guys are okay.

This will be my forum topic thread where I write about all trips to Bangkok (and maybe other parts of Thailand) this year in 2026. I am making at least four weekend trips and probably one long trip. I don't want to write them separately. The first trip of 2026 is a January weekend trip to be with my guy before he goes back to Vietnam for an extended period of time. His visa expires Tuesday 13th so I planned a trip the weekend before. I arrived on Friday late because there was a one hour delay due to engineers having to check engine of aircraft. Singapore Airlines 5.15pm flight from Singapore usually arrives by 6:30pm in Bangkok but due to delay plus long immigra…

I go to 7-Eleven in the US maybe twice a year. Here it’s at least twice a day. What’s your gotta grab? Mine: #1 - the cooling towels they keep inside the chilled drinks cooler. I don’t know what chemical they put in those towels but holy crap it works miracles #2 - the blueberry cookies. For those with commitment issues like me, if you don’t want to buy a full bag, look for these individual size ones. #3 - toasties. I didn’t think I would become addicted to these but here I am. The croissant ham and cheese is my favorite. #4 - coffee milk - sold in little plastic bottles for about 10 or 15 baht. #5 - deet spray - most people buy the one in pink I like the one in orange. I…

  20. Arrival This time is was quite a long trek since I had 12 hours layover in Munich. After overnight flight my plan was to do some sightseeing of the city, few people I know consider most interesting in Germany. But even best plans are derailed and sometimes replaced by even better ones. Upon arrival at main train station, itself a long train ride from the airport , count at least 45 minutes, I noticed train to Garmish Patenkirchen departing in 7 minutes. Enough time to place my carry-on in locker, ticket was no issue as I got 1 day Bavaria Ticket purchased at the airport already. 90 minutes later alighted from the train at Garmish but instead of admiring Al…

  23. Chapter 1: Do try It has been almost 7 months—seven long months—before I finally started making plans for my next trip. I checked with my travel buddy, who told me he should be able to travel in early July or late July/early August. I myself still needed to wait for my work schedule to be fixed, which got done towards mid-June; thus, I started to look at tickets for both windows and finally decided on an end-of-July trip. I applied for annual leave, booked my flight, booked my hotels, and told a few possible travel buddies and forum members (and ex-forum members) about my maiden trip this year. Arriving in Bangkok on a Friday evening was a big mistake. While t…

I never use to really drink alcohol because I don't like beer 🍻 and the disgusting drink I had recently a Jagermeister left me sick for days But I have tasted Port or rather sweet wine 🍷 and I am starting to love the wines 🍷 🍷 as long as it's sweet red Only if it's sweet, if it's not sweet then I have to add sprite So rather I have gone into the establishments such as wine connection or Dr wine in the Phillipines where I put my upper class voice on and pretended to be a connessieur of wines only to be caught out by the young Filipina server who knew more about wines than me ! Pouring out the wine into a glass ...I had no idea what they wanted me to …
