Whilst browsing/updating my bookmarks I found that Le Cafe Royale has got itself a newly designed website which has been modernised (not before time, I might say!). http://www.caferoyale-pattaya.com/home From the room photos on the new site they seem to have done some renovation of the interior decor (draw blinds in place of curtains as an example) and the photos do seem to suggest there have been other minor changes. All this has been done without any publicity. However, also without any notification, the hotel rates have jumped quite sharply as have hotel car hire rates from the airport. Hi guys...36 GWM travelling alone to Bangkok for 3 days fun in a few weeks. Looking for recommendations on inexpensive hotel/guest house near the main gay areas. Any guys know of any that allow unregistered guests? or don't care about overnight visitors? I know there was some talk on one of the forums about the book "The King Never Smiles". I did not read those posts, but have just finished reading the book. What I think though is that the book explains much of what is currently going on in Thailand now. The book was written before the current coup took place . But I gained a better understanding of a sufficiency economy, Village Scouts, and of some of the main players in today's government. I was amazed how the book explains in part what may really be behind the current coup.

As a result of an earlier post I have been reminded by others to have a Will or have provisions for my Thai bf in case of my death. Even though I have provisions (dispositions) for my bf I am not presumptous to think they are adequat. A Thai Will is good if one has assets in Thailand like a condo or house. One of the most common topics of local discussion is the incredible building boom going on in Pattaya with no observable supporting infrastructure to accommodate it all. Ok, first I want to say that I DO appreciate having such good medical care in Pattaya, however... Whenever I go to a well known expat hospital here in Pattaya, the dentists are always recommending root canals ...and this could be on a tooth that was just done a year before... I have talked to a couple other expats and they have had the same experience. I also know a new family that moved into Pattaya and the one dentist at the well known hospital recommended to do a root canal on a 8 year oldgirl (and the mother fell for it).
