Hi Guys, I’ve been to Thailand a few times now, and frequented a few of the go go bars but never really understood how the process works, who to tip, how much to tip and often find my self just walking out overwhelmed by it. Looking for answers I can’t seem to find any post that are written after 2014 that talk about appropriate tips, or what the average “off” rate is to a bar or what the recommended/expected short time or long time rates are on average. for my trip later in the year I am thinking of booking the first week but then seeing where I end up. I have not done this before, I usually like to have a bit of a plan and book hotels in advance. What are your experiences of booking in advance or just rocking up and sourcing a hotel on the day (or the day before)? Do you find there is a difference in rates that you will pay - can you get a good deal as they try to fill rooms or is it better to secure better rates in advance?

I have finally made it back to BKK! It is two years since I was here last, my first time in the city, and I have had to cancel the trip at least twice during that period because of Covid. I am sure many have talked about jt multiple times before and I am sorry for having to create a new topic on this subject. For some reason, I am having a glitch using the search function. I usually used XOne or that jewellery shop on Surawong for exchanging money on my previous trips. But this time I am arriving on Songkran, and I dont think either will open. So I am thinking to use the ones in the lower levels of the airport which many have recommended here. My flight will arrive late so I wonder how late they open.

I am planning a trip to LOS at some point between late April and the beginning of June. Hotel prices, whilst not expensive seem to have risen a fair bit. There are still deals to be had for sure, but this time out there I am looking at apartment/ condo options that will help me keep the costs down. If anyone has any recommendations that can post that would be really helpful. I am not particularly fussed where as my travel plans are very flexible, so any of the usual spots - BKK, Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Ko Samui, Being close to the boys would be good, at least not miles away from any action. I couldn't quite figure out where to put this... But I've been out in Kanchanaburi for the last few days. Yesterday we visited Huay Mae Kamin waterfall. It's about 45km past Erawan Falls which are currently closed due to storm damage a couple of weeks ago. It is spectacular and magical. It's quite reminiscent of Kuang Si in Luang Prabang with several levels and beautiful green waters. Also quite easy to get to with parking right near the most beautiful parts of the falls. But take the walk to tier 6 and you're rewarded by an enormous abundance of butterflies. I've never seen anything like it. Well worth the 300 baht entry for foreigners Lots of long drives and windin…
