I have never been to any South East Asian country other than Thailand, but I have done some light research and it seems like Laos, Cambodia and especially Myanmar are much cheaper than Thailand.

I took a guy to BBB inn one time for a short time stay, and I am not fast. It was probably 2.5hrs and the "hotel" staff kept knocking on the door every 30 mins or so. It was so annoying, they did not get that it would only take me longer to be done with my business.
