  1. Haha WOW I didn't think it was gonna be that easy to guess. Well then I owe you guys a drink or something. Now about that trip report, I guess I can write about this current trip. If anyone can guess where this was taken from (building and floor number! - lol), then I will write about this trip. For those who already know where I am (via PM or LINE), you're not allowed to participate lol. Bring in the rain:
  2. I think that's the whole point right? In real life you can look people in the eye, connect in 3D, and learn from each other in a more satisfying level. We can laugh and cry and share drinks and be silly. I don't get any trolls, annoying bickering or weird non-sequiturs (surprisingly, maybe I've been lucky). So if I don't get that in real life, why would I want that here? I'll just log off and meet real people. In fact that's what I'll do now. If I can just bring my aircon everywhere. The month of May is a bitch near the equator. And bonus points if anyone can tell where I am right now. Hint: its not quite a songthaew, but an equivalent:
  3. The board is different things for different people obviously. The posters that I've followed through the years are probably not the same ones you do, hence the fact that you don't notice those posters gone. Not sure if they post in other boards. I don't want to call out their names, just that I know for a fact they don't come here as often or don't post as often anymore. Some are even very good friends on mine now, and we communicate on LINE and other media. I am not imagining this, as shown in the various opinions above by other people. Again, your mileage may vary. New members who have approached me through PM because they liked my reports have said they are too shy to post on the board for various reasons. I would like to think that it doesn't take an ironclad constitution to muster up the courage to post in the board. And I'm always glad if there are new members who post. New blood (and therefore new perspectives) is always good. Again, probably no one that you know. Many regular posters who have posted before have been traveling these past few months (including myself, and also I am in BKK this week) don't bother with the trip reports anymore, let alone posting. I saw and/or met some of them last trip. Which is a shame because I think their insight is needed more than ever now. YES! As a fellow trip report writer, you know how it goes. And its more "Fuck it! I don't have time!" for me. BKK and Thailand are not the only places I regularly visit for boys. And the word "weak" was not first used by me. Glad you're gonna post again about your trip! My next trip is August, and too bad we won't crossing paths, otherwise I'd buy you a beer.
  4. Hahaha this so funny it's kind of sad. Haven't you noticed a number of regular posters, who used to post helpful, practical, useable information have stopped posting altogether? It's not just me. If the concern trolls have won the day and have taken over the board, then it's not a mystery why those posters are now incognito and rarely even check the forum anymore. Those posters were the reason why I started contributing to this forum in the first place. At least you and Christian etc are still posting. If I was new to this board today I wouldn't be as inspired to be a regular contributor like I was. All I see now is a lot of circular BS. But again, that's just me. I'm "weak" I guess. But thanks for a good number of you who have PMed me, thanking me for starting to post again. I know these are not the posts you want to see, and I'm not interested in starting my own blog (too much work). I'll just slink into the background like these other posters and interject once in a while.
  5. Yup you hit it right on the head. Lots of people stop engaging because of this unnecessary roughness. Yes, we can just leave the "spirited and lively" forum members to just argue amongst themselves. But the forum will be poorer for it if the guys who do post practical information stop posting because of the trolls. I just landed in Asia now, and already my brain juices are flowing with the possibilities of what I can do here. Will I write about them? Probably not, if the trolls keep on trolling.
  6. Thanks man. I'm just trying counter the negative energy floating around here with some positive, useful and practical information. Which is what this board is about! At least I think it is anyway. I'm an eternal optimist! One more thing about Grindr in Hua Hin. I turned it on at 5 am one of the mornings, and there were not enough boys in the Hua Hin area to fill the Grindr grid all the way, so Grindr was picking up boys from Pattaya, who were miles away across the gulf of Thailand. Some where cute too and made me wish I was in Pattaya for a minute. Hornet may be more popular but I didn't check.
  7. Haha whoa before we get carried away, let's not derail this thread. Let's keep it to Hua Hin info. But to briefly answer your queries: 1. Nothing has changed, and BurBoy is mentioned here as the BF because he is mentioned out of the context of a trip report. I am assuming not everyone has (or wants) to read my reports so the simplest way to describe him in this context is BF. What he really is to me is more complex, and "BF" probably can't fully encapsulate it. 2. Mexico is still alive and well in my heart, and I will be back there in 4 weeks. If only I can write about that. 3. Thailand is called LOS - "Land of Smiles", but it can also stand for "Land of Surprises". The country, and what it means to me, has evolved over the past month. That's why I have not given up on it, yet. OK that was already too long. lilbob69 please PM me or post a reply if you have further questions about my brief time in Hua Hin. And I encourage others to post about Hua Hin as well. Let's go back to what this board does best: as a forum for travel tips and sharing experiences.
  8. There is a Hua Hin trip report here somewhere, but this terse summary will do. My BF and a friend were there for three days, 2 days before Songkran last month. We wanted to have a short beach getaway that was relatively accessible from Bangkok, and the 2.5-3 hour drive was not too bad to get to and from there. We used Hua Hin Cab (http:\\huahincab.com - 1900 baht) to get to Hua Hin, and used Olay of Siam Roads on the drive back to Bangkok with some stops along the way (camels! seafood! temples! viewpoints!). FYI, Olay is so handsome and so friendly, he is highly recommended! Me and my friend were drooling the whole drive back to Bangkok. The beach is fine, yes way less commercial, but pretty good and not busy at all, and great to just lay there and enjoy the sun and the occasional dip in the Gulf of Thailand. The beachfront vendors provide loungers and reclining beds, as well as beers and lunch/dinner/snacks, which are reasonably priced. The (one) gay bar we tried to go to, New Guy Bar, was dead dead dead on a 10 PM Tuesday night. We didn't even stop by and just walked by it. So sorry can't tell you if it picks up later that night or if weeknights are bad. I didn't try Grindr because my BF (BurBoy) was there, but my friend was able to find a number of very cute free boys. Can't comment on the money boy Grindr scene. The seafood at the Night Market is great, though make the effort to find a restaurant that serves fresh stuff. We picked one at random and the seafood, while delicious, was not as fresh as we could hoped. The Night Market is cute and another way to spend the time in this early closing town. Bluport mall is a pleasant shopping experience - not too busy, relatively good restaurants and vendors, and a good place to get aircon. We stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel Hua Hin, and it has a beachfront, but they don't have loungers closer to the beach. The main beach area with vendors are a pleasant 20 minute walk along the sand from the hotel. The hotel itself upholds most of what Intercon hotels are known for, so I recommend it. Finally, quoting a PM by a very helpful forum member: Some photos here - at loungers with some snacks and alcohol, the beachfront by Intercon, The sunrise (Hua Hin beach is East facing) and the moonrise:
  9. Haha. To add to this, there's some unnecessary bomb throwing in the discussions as well, especially in the past few months. It kind of takes away the joy from posting, at least for me. I know some people thrive on this environment, but not me. I would love to continue with the reports, and there is a lot to share, and still to come. We shall see. Congrats on hitting 100! This move by Scooby could usher in more activity from new/occasional posters, though from some of the posts, it can also lead to a lot of filler.
  10. LOL chill out man. Why does everything have to be like this with you? Instead of rehashing past follies, why don't you go to Bangkok? Get a boy or go to Babylon! Enjoy everything the city has to offer! And if you're in Bangkok next week, I'll be there! I'll buy you a beer or two .
  11. I'll bite, just this once tho. What I said was within the context of that infamous thread in question, and not a blanket statement about other fantasies in general.
  12. Lol. Why is it so hard to believe that samebb is good friends with the boy. I know samebb personally, and can vouch for him. And there is significant chatter offline about your post too. Unfortunately the loudest voices on this board are usually the most abrasive. I used to write a shit ton of content for this forum because I enjoyed sharing my stories, and stories that actually happened to me mind you. Not some cockamamie fantasy. Nowadays I think why even bother to do that if it just devolves into this. Ok we can go back to the bitching now.
  13. Ahhhh, sorry to tell you this but I will not be writing any trip reports going forward, at least this year. And its ironic because I've changed my mind about not returning to Bangkok after last Songkran. It turns out LOS is not finished with me yet. Still lots of adventures to look forward to.
  14. Love you too man. I know that your heart is in the right place and was there to save the day for the poor boy. I would definitely want you on my side if anyone ever wronged me. And more than that, your kindness has been repaid over and over this past day (judging from my Line messages from you). I'm so happy for you! Also, trolls are gonna troll. Don't give in. You are actually living your life well. Life can't get any better than that! It must be really lonely behind their keyboards. Finally: keep that seat warm for me. I can't believe I'll be back in less than three weeks. Can't wait man.
  15. Oh god, I guess the board is going through one of its troll cycles again. It was interesting to hear about this while it was happening actually. samebb was Lining me while the whole unfortunate set of events was happening. I'm glad that ultimately it was a happy ending (so to speak). I wonder if it was the last night of this guy's vacation, and he ran out of money and didn't mind burning bridges everywhere. No doubt Twilight now knows his name and face and won't be welcomed back.
  16. Good job mark311088! I taught you well lol.
  17. Last night said hi to paulsf and samebb at Hot Male bar, and then paulsf, a friend and BurBoy and I all went to Fresh Boys to take in the show. We rounded it out at DJ station and it was a fun night. Currently I am in Hua Hin with BurBoy and our friend. Just wanted to share this lovely moon rise over the Gulf of Thailand, and we are enjoying the relative calmness of this town versus that of Bangkok. Hope everyone forgets all the nonsense above and is safe for songkran!
  18. Well, when the official website of the Tourism Authority of Thailand advertises Songkran to white foreigners, including having this image of a white guy with a water gun in the website: then I'm pretty sure its a festival anyone (including ignorant white farang, I'm sure) can participate in. When I was in Yangon, they had the streets decked out in Christmas decor, but I am pretty sure they didn't know half of what the holiday was really about, being Buddhist and all. Who cares though? They got into their version of the Christmas spirit. I, for one, am looking forward to the festivities, subdued or not. And thanks guys for the PMs with well wishes for a nice trip. After being down to most of the buildup for this trip, I am slowly getting excited again. See you soon!
  19. Okay this makes me sad if it's true: Prawit calls for midnight revelry halt Maybe GCircuit is not affected because it is indoors? Maybe Silom will be the same as last year? Maybe I should stop reading Songkran news and just enjoy my vacation?
  20. LOL you guys, and those who PMed me about continuing the report, it really has to wait. I just came back from Mexico and in a few days jetting off to Thailand. If the Songkran week is eventful then I will probably write about it. But I probably won't be offing anyone and will have my hands full with BurBoy, so it might be even less interesting to the people here who (rightfully) expect more sexually stimulating reports.
  21. LOL I can't wait to join the brain dead. Songkran really isn't for everyone.
  22. Thanks for the little tidbit worldatlarge. I just got back this morning from Mexico City this morning and saw your post so I googled "Mexico City sinking" and read this New York Times article about it. I guess there goes my dream of buying property here. Maybe I'll look at Puerto Vallarta instead. It is interesting though that this year Easter, including "Sabado de Gloria" happens over Songkran. One of many parallels of Mexico and Thailand. Interesting parade. Is thaiboy.net a BBB Inn website? I do see Tao there. I guess I am not cancelling my plans and will be there in a few days. See you guys pretty soon...
  23. I intended this to just be a one time post because of user Mark311088 had his question about massage places. I think this trip report's time in the sun has set and I am dangerously close to my next BKK trip to be able to finish. I am also still in Mexico right now so won't have time to post anyway. But who knows, maybe I'll continue and finish this report when things calm down on my end. That's awesome GWMinUS! Thank you for the compliment! It truly is an amazing part of the world. I want to visit Vietnam and Laos next but who knows when i will be back to SE Asia after this April trip. But I hope that I too am going on adventures that are memorable enough to be vivid in my mind when I am 76 years old.
  24. I hope so paulsf! I am a little bit concerned with the online articles popping up like this one: “No Powder, No Water Guns, No Sexy Dress, and No Alcohol” for Songkran Festival This Year This one says Khao San is subdued, but at least has water gun fights: Songkran activities on Khao San to be subdued Please post more updates for those who are there, what is the latest scuttlebutt? It won't change my plans to come, but I will need to plan other activities if the usual celebration is subdued.
  25. You had amazing timing because the next unposted Day in that trip report was the Arena visit. I wouldn't have posted it otherwise. I suggest you go maybe Tuesday or Wednesday to DJ. By Thursday it might be too crowded and you can't even get in. At least just judging from last year. I'll be there sometime next week and will be staying till after Songkran. And yes, the legendary (and he is pretty legendary in my book) BurBoy will be with me, maybe even the whole time. I plan on a detour to one of the beaches before Songkran (possibly Hua Hin), but you can catch me in BKK for sure. I sent you a PM if you wanna reply with your availability. We can figure something out.
