I thought it was a way for them to make the bar ready for the next crop of people. Barnum style... Pasted from the PT Barnum page... Barnum's American Museum was so popular that people would spend the entire day there. This cut into profits, as the museum would be too full to squeeze another person in. In classic Barnum style, old P.T. put up signs that said "This Way to the Egress." Many customers followed the signs, not realizing that Egress was a fancy word for "Exit." They kept on looking for this strange new attraction, the "Egress". Many patrons followed the signs right out the door! Once they had exited the building, the door would lock behind them, and if they wanted to get back in, they had to pay another admission charge! Modern museums make sure that the last thing you see before you exit is the gift shop.

I thought about buying the bar, but for me, the daily commute would be murder. LOL

What if I were to tell you about about a once in a lifetime opportunity? What if I told you there was an opportunity to open a place of business that has steady foot traffic? What if I told you that it was in an area very welcoming to gay business? What if I told you that many people are keeping an eye on this spot? Don't reach for your wallet yet! What if I told you that this spot was located in a infamous Soi, across from a popular gogo bar with a prime view to the comings and goings of the street? Please, put your money away for now... What if I were to tell you that this location comes with seating outside, inside and has upper floors that can be used to enhance your business? That's right! You could be the proud owner of a bar once known as Oscars! Name your new bar anything you like. Hire the most handsome guys of your dreams. Serve ice cold beer, refreshing beverages and tasty snacks! All while in the company of your sexy staff and happy customers! Those jolly, happy vacationers will be flocking to your bar, buying drinks, offing the staff and tipping well for the pleasure of it all. Even though you will be surrounded by identical bars, your bar will stand out! Your chairs and tables will be different than the other bars. Your competition won't know what hit them! Once you sign the dotted line your life will be filled with champagne wishes and caviar dreams!

There is still soi 4, jomtien complex, paying, boystown and Babylon is a complex all by itself. And we dont onow what tomorrow brings. Heck, I'm now using my Google home to turn on and off lights and control my TV's. Things are only getting better. Another gay area may appear with fresh bars, restaurants and services for the next generation. These will be their good old days

I went to Arena massage last October. I chose a guy with fair skin with a muscular build. He didn't have much of a cock and the massage was simply OK. I declined the HJ.

If it was my last trip to Thailand and I could only see the show from 1 bar.... I would be sitting in BoyzBoyzBoyz

The closing of the soi may be a blessing in disguise. Having everything gathered together in one soi allowed for inflated prices just as mall prices tend to be higher than shop prices found on random streets. Bars will have to earn customers rather than try to muscle them in as they gawk at the bars as they travel through the gay entertainment habitat known as soi twilight. Sure, some bars will close and other will take their place. It happend to Jupiter 2002. They opened in soi 4 which all thought to be impossible. Maybe gogo bars will return to soi 2? No matter where they open, it will reduce the average cost to customers as the bars try to rebuild their following. Since there is nothing I can do to stop the closure, I will embrace it, welcome it and anticipate what tomorrow brings. If I am wrong and they find a way to increase prices, I'll be one unhappy customer

I judge dreamboys by other bars in thailand. Judging by their neighbors, they are expensive and I chose to exercise my options. I'm sure others are happy to pay those prices. Heck, I even refuse to buy avian water and prefer the 5 baht bottles.
-
Dreamboys use to be the only bar I would visit but their high prices put me off and I enter that bar once every few years. The funny thing is that the show has not changed. But the prices have... It's just the most expensive gay bar in Thailand.

How much luggage are you traveling with?

Just remember a few lyrics frome some of my favorite songs.... The good old days weren't always good and tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems. And one of my favorites... Good times... These are the good times. Go out and visit Twilight

I hate glamor drag. I was once dragged to the old Icon Show Bar and watched them perform scenes from Chicago. It was okay but I still don't want to waste my time looking at guys in hi-heels and a Dress, especially in a gay gogo bar.

Great post numazu, now get out of this thread and finish up your trip report to Brazil!

I like the bars for the show bit you won't find me at dreamboys. I know the show by heart because it seem to never change. The drag queen fashion show with drag penis nudity. Yuk. Drag routine with guy with decent body pretending he didn't know the drag queen was a drag queen. Yuk. 500 baht beer with a host asking you if you want another before you drink half of your 500 baht beer. Yuk.

I like both. I like the bars, the apps, the beach and meeting guys out in public. It's a smorgasbord.

You would catch my eye as you walked by. You make 55 look good!

When I wnt to arena in october, I took a walk around that complex that houses arena. The escalators could use some attention. The little mall housed a restaurant or two but I think it could fit all the bars businesses in soi twilight with some room for a small hotel.
-
What about the complex that holds Arena massage? I could see that being turned into a gay bar mini mall of sorts. Bangkok has many pockets and streets just waiting for development.

I wonder if anyone would be willing to extend a loan to a Bangkok bar owner looking to move to pattaya? For $10,000 usd, you would get a % of the profits and stock in the business. Hmmmmm
-
What is one of the things that lead to the success of a bar? LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. There was a dreamboys in pattaya, it was not anything like the bkk bar. Will the pattaya bar have bkk staff or will it staff with pattaya guys? If I was a bkk bar owner I would encourage all my competition to go to pattaya where all the other bars are. But I would find a good spot in bkk.

I was just there in Thailand last October. Had a great time in Chiang Mai, a lot of fun in Phuket, a great time in Bangkok and fun filled days and nights in Pattaya! I had plans to return in April and stay till mid May. Today I sent notice to my manager to cancel my vacation. April is approaching far to fast and I feel as if I was just there and I'm not in the mood to return just yet. It was my plan to visit in April and return again in october but now I'm thinking to skip April and just stay 4 weeks in october. The funny thing is that I look forward to being on the flight more than I do the destination. I think my thailand holidays are becoming an ordinary part of my life. Sigh...... oh, don't cry for me Pattaya.... The truth is I never left you......

I'm interested in seeing what comes next. I am grateful to have experienced the past but I'm on pins and needles anticipating what tomorrow brings. Will this bring back true competition in the bar scene? Will nature boy and golden cock use this opportunity to grow and evolve? Will struggling straight bars turn gay? Will a new gayborhood pop up along the sky train line? These are exciting times in Bangkok!

That would be me. I need to do more after all the holiday eating
