  1. I put in for a quote as a 73 year old: $610. That is approx 21500 baht. I bought an AXA policy for 7600 baht. And this company does not cover cancellation costs for non US citizens. For over 74 the price is the same.
  2. I asked the same question on a dedicated Facebook website. I was told that the paragraph relating to charter flights was an error. I think something has got lost in the translation.
  3. I would sincerely hope that one could go straight to Pattaya and get the test done there. Pattaya Hotels currently offer the ASQ so I would hope it’s not a problem. Having to go to BKK for the test would mean arriving in Pattaya at least two days later than planned.
  4. Oh God Noooo...pleaseee.
  5. If you are prepared take a flight with an intermediate stop there are plenty of good flights on offer. You do not have to go via the Middle East either! Swiss is a very good example. Daily Direct London to Bangkok flights, as before , will not be seen for some time!
  6. If this is a “tourism fee” then I assume those of us travelling to Thailand, who are not tourists, will be exempt?! That would include businessmen, students, expats, people on non immigrant visas (retirees) etc etc. The list is endless. There are in excess of 40 types of visas issued by Thailand. Perhaps only those arriving with “tourist” visas will be charged!
  7. At the moment Thailand needs ALL the tourists it can muster. Not just the rich
  8. The whole thing (the application form and the 44, YES 44, pages of instructions) is written in appalling Thenglish...
  9. The first room they advertise is the Horizon Room at the Banyan Tree Hotel in Bangkok, at 4500 Bt. So I went direct to the Banyan website and there it is at 2500 Bt. Site goes straight to the Recycle Bin
  10. If that is the case you can forget it. How many people are going to travel thousands of miles for Christmas and the New Year only to find all entertainment closed???
  11. Not in my case. Being from the UK a trip to Thailand is for two purposes. First is for a holiday and second, and maybe more important, is to avoid the dreadful UK winter which runs from November until March. So if Thailand is a non starter in November then I need somewhere else warm to go in November!
  12. Hope it takes off and everything is open when you arrive! Personally I will wait until much nearer the time to make sure enough is open to make the effort worthwhile.
  13. Agree with z909. The requirements are in fact much easier than last year as there is no “solitary” required. The main hurdle. I have also read that visitors are allowed whilst in the Sandpit too...which does seem strange! Anyway, the main requirement, as has been said many times, is that everything needs to be “ops normal” before most tourists will travel.
  14. I must have missed something, I thought z909 also intends to travel in November/December PROVIDED things are open.
  15. Sounds good. Live with it...which is what some countries are beginning to realise. However, if they are to reopen successfully they must not go all “Thai” over the entry requirements and over what is allowed to open. It is actually quite simple!
  16. This time last year I began looking at my usual winter 3 month trip to Pattaya and it looked as if there was no chance. Not because everything was shut, but because the Thai border was firmly closed. I usually get there in November. However about October Thailand announced ‘O’ visas would be issued for 90 day stays, so it was Game On. There then followed weeks of paperwork and I eventually got to Thailand mid December and did my solitary. I stayed for 4 months. Most of the time everything operated normally. A good trip. So, here we are again a year later...Since last year the Thai border has always been open and I can go any time I want, with the same amount of paperwork, but actually simpler quarantine by going to a Sandbox. Good. However the BIG difference at the moment is all entertainment is closed. So in answer to the threads question, “Forthcoming holidays 2021/2”, I see absolutely see no problem travelling again in November from the UK to Thailand, providing I do the quarantine. No big deal if I stay for 3/4 months. What I’m not prepared to do is travel there and find everything is closed. So it will be a last minute decision nearer the time depending on what’s open.
  17. Another important point raised by that post. DO NOT book with a retailer. Nowadays pay the little extra and book direct with the airline. It save a lot of hassle if you need to change flight schedules and what happens if that retailer goes out of business?
  18. Don’t rush and book months in advance. Airline ‘street cred’ is at an all time low and they cancel on a whim. If interested suggest look at their reliability over several months to see how many “cancellations” happen.
  19. Can’t they better spend their time helping sort out the pandemic/starvation/unemployed/Suicidal....Etc etc.?
  20. Have they nothing better to worry about in these days of Covid/unemployment/bankruptcy/starvation etc ?
  21. I too have the UK Vaccination Certificate. After seeing the above posts I had a good read of it. As said no Passport number. In addition mine omits my middle name. No letterhead. And nothing at all on it to say it is issued by the UK! It could be from anywhere although it does mention NHS on it. That would be meaningless to any petty Thai official.
  22. I believe that stupid policy has been revised...due to hospitals being full ...well there’s a surprise!
  23. Are readers aware that Sansuk has been closed for about a year? I drove by a few times last winter (January/February 2021) and it was still closed with an awning, which covered the open air areas, blowing in the wind and ripped to shreds. It showed no sign of reopening...ever. When it was last open (summer 2020) the entrance fee was 230 baht and had been the same for a number of years. As far as I’m aware Babylon is closed permanently and their entrance fee was very similar to Sansuk, maybe a few baht more.
  24. That is not my experience. I went there several times over that last few years and never experienced anything like that, although I did read about it on forums such as this. Regular prices for Farangs of any age when I went. The only thing is that it got raided and so now closes early, which is a shame.
