As for returning to the USA best to get a Global Entry card. Kind of a pain in the ass to get one but you can bypass all the hassle upon re-entering USA. No questions asked at Immigration or Customs. Only problem I had was after renewing my Passport which voided the Global Entry. So later had to return to Immigration at the airport and they updated with new Passport number. The other drawback is you are thru Immigration so fast that you have to wait around for your baggage to arrive.
