November 9, 201510 yr In the past I have not only enjoyed the offerings at the Venue Show Bar,I have also written very favorable reviews because I felt they deserved support. I feel compelled to revisit that original assessment. The sound level was off the charts. I was willing to tough it out but it was truly so loud that I felt my ears throbbing. When my discomfort was making it impossible to enjoy the show I requested my bill and paid. As I was leaving I went to the man making the announcements and told him that the music was so loud that it was quite literally uncomfortable to the point of causing pain. He responded with a shrug which is the last time I will visit his establishment. He also has a habit of asking the patrons to "settle down" I am not a three year old and he is not a nanny. It is clear that attention will be given to the performance without this unnecessary instruction. I have enjoyed many evenings at the Venue during my past trips to Pattaya, sadly, that will no longer be an option.
November 10, 201510 yr The sound level was off the charts. If you think that's bad, it's nothing compared to the sound level when some of these open air bars have a party. Try being around for one of those. They almost invariably use oversized loudspeakers, volume turned up to the max, and off-key singers who sound to me more like someone is torturing cats. Just a few days ago I was going to spend some time at the Question Mark bar in Jomtien Complex. Another bar a few doors away was having a party and it was typical. The volume was so loud, and I mean loud, it drove me away before I even sat down. I went over to the next soi to talk to Erich at the Ganymede, but even with the buildings in between it was still too loud to even be able to talk to Erich. I went home. Anyone remember the law that prohibits the volume from being greater than 90 decibels? Please give me a few minutes to finish having my little laugh.
