Living in Thailand now, one of the things I would miss is the NBC powerpuff girls morning show (including Al Roker) talking about the Olympics.  But, with USTVNOW, I can record the entire Olympics day and watch it at my leisure without staying up all night.

 

I have found that the torrent sites suck since KickAss went down and I have yet to find as good of a replacement. But, I love USTV.  It is 30 USD per month and totally worth it IMHO.  I have a Roku and it is set with my account and I watch on my Roku each day. 

 

They offer a free month if you have never tried it and the Olympics are something you can't get on torrents. 

Michael ...... may I recommend to you 3 torrent sites that I have long used .... even when there was KickAss ... none of which have a good selection of Rio 2016 except the Opening Ceremony ..... maybe some will be poster after the whole thing is over. 

 

1. https://eztv.ag/ .... only for TV shows ...... virtually all USA TV series ... many as well as many from UK ....... however no sports .... none of the morning shows ..... nor the Sunday talking head news shows. 

 

2. http://extratorrent.cc/ ..... very good with categories as follows: Movies, TV, Music Anime, Games, Books, Software, Pictures, Adult and Other ........ updated daily and archives are easily accessible ...... very good SEARCH mechanism 

 

3. https://thepiratebay.org/ .... one of the old faithful that seems to hang on despite various Big Brother attacks .... with these categories ......All ,Audio, Video, Applications, Games, Porn, Other ...... as well as Browse Torrents | Recent Torrents | TV shows | Music | Top 100

 

I "do" the whole downloading process .... I use BitTorrent format ... I find the combination of my internet connection and BitTorrent to be very fast downloading  ........ then once they are in my computer, I download what I want to watch onto a flash drive and plug it into my TV ...... thus do not have to sit in front of my computer by the hour watching stuff. .... which I hate.

 

Also the last two is where I get iBooks which I download into my iPad ...... have not read a real book in three years ..... 

 

Have been doing this for years and it is a total replacement for my cable TV service, which I basically only use for BBC.

There is a similar thing for us Brits called UKTV which I have subscribed to for two years and would not like to be without.

In this age and time here in Singapore, actual TV and paid cable viewership had been on the decline since most popular shows are captured via the Internet.  

 

For example, popular mainland variety shows are available an hour after its official screening in China and movies, about 1 week.  I don't think I would pay to watch them as they are often broadcasted several months later. The authorities here are enforcing a maximum of 12 months contract over the previous 24 months contract.  

There is a similar thing for us Brits called UKTV which I have subscribed to for two years and would not like to be without.

I still use this service. I love it during Big Brother season as I like to see the episodes live or as close to live as possible. USTVNOW allows me to record via DVD and watch back later.
