February 21, 20179 yr I found this article and thought it was great! I just did a road trip to Chiang Mai with my BF and his son. We had a fantastic time and I loved seeing the country by driving. February 21, 20179 yr Looks like a fairly comprehensive itinerary. There is a Youtube guy named Harald Baldr who followed a similar route to the northern route above, on a motorcycle last year. It forms a good overview of what such a route is like. Worth viewing if you are thinking of touring some of the back roads of Thailand.

February 22, 20179 yr From my experience with road trips, it's all about the "crew". Where you end up traveling is of secondary concern (within reason - there are beautiful spots all over Thailand), and it's often the unexpected discoveries along the way that make a trip memorable.
