June 2, 200620 yr TOT is offering ADSL at the 1024/512 speed for 1000 baht per month. I signed up for it two days ago. I had been using their service at the 512/256 speed for the past several months. That costs 790 baht per month. Double the speed for 210 baht more per month, less than US $5, seemed worth trying and apparently this is a new offer. I'm very pleased with it. It truly is lightning fast now, as fast as anything I had back in the USA. For those of you living in Pattaya, if you want to try it, then go to the second floor at Carrefour. That's where you'll find the TOT office to sign up for the service. I signed up for it Wednesday afternoon and it was up and running by Friday morning.
June 5, 200620 yr Could you perhaps be referring to TT&T's Maxnet 4 Home Up Speed promotion? 1024/512 kbps 1,000Bt per month I think we just got that for our house in Chiang Mai. I agree that the connection is fast and the service from the TT&T staff was efficient.

July 24, 200620 yr Is it true that your TOT land line gets suspended if you don't make any outgoing calls for a month, even if you have been punctual and consistent in your subscription payments? (They charge a flat rate of 107Bt a month for 'renting' the line, on top of your call charges.) Our housekeeper in Chiang Mai informed me this morning that she couldn't call us on the house phone as it had been suspended. I then checked with TOT and was told that I needed to pay a 107Bt to 'reinstate' the line because it hadn't been used for nearly two months. Anybody else heard of this?

July 24, 200620 yr gaybutton, even though you erred ,you were still correct.. TOT is also offering high speed internet with a free modem and at the same or very similar prices.. I am in the process of applying and look forward to going from dial up to high speed.. I think there is a 500B. start up fee but one can check it out at the Pattaya Klang office , near Carefoure on the corner of 3rd Rd... I will report back after I get it and let anyone who is interested know if it is any good..

They probably told me about it when I first signed up or it's in the rental contract; Thai officialdom is usually quite meticulous in routine matters. Just to clarify: TOT is the state local telecommunications provider while CAT handles international telecommunications. TT&T is an agent or TOT and several private ISPs. It's a lot faster to go through TT&T to get a telephone line or subscribe to Internet services and they usually have a customer service centre in big shopping centres. For instance, it takes only a week to get a phone line installed and running if you go through TT&T but it will take at least a month if go directly to TOT. Your telephone bill, of course, comes from TOT as they are the actual line provider but you can pay it at TT&T,7-11, via your bank's ATM or any of the other options listed on your bill.
