Bangkok’s new mixed-use lifestyle complex Samyan Mitrtown is opening this Friday, which means that the stores, cafes, restaurants and House Samyan cinema that also occupy the new 222,000sqm space are getting their big debut that day, too — including the biggest branch of Muji in Thailand to date, which will include a “coffee corner.”

Muji Coffee Corner is an extension of Muji, the Tokyo-born lifestyle store with a minimalist design concept at its core. We hear that the new cafe will make its coffee using beans sourced from Doi Tung, a mountainous area in Chiang Rai province. 

Samyan Mitrtown is located on Rama IV Road can can be reached from MRT Samyan’s exit No. 2.

I will go if only to experience the Doi Tung Coffee. This is from the Coffee sites main page -

The creation of Café DoiTung allows locals to capture the top value in coffee growing, which is a replacement crop for opium. Café DoiTung uses only the Project's high-quality aromatic Arabica coffee beans harvested from trees grown at approximately 1,000 metres above sea level. The coffee cherries are hand-picked and selected before being carefully roasted and ground.

I have tasted another hill tribe coffee, Akha Ama Coffee, in Chiang Mai and loved it.

I think, I saw some kind of a tribe coffee corner in Chiangmai airport, but wasn't convinced to try... Will certainly do it next time

As far as I recall Akha Ama Coffee is only sold in their own two coffee shops, ini in the old city. The founder of the coffee company appeared in a TED video a few years ago. He is truly inspirational.
