Take Me Back To The Sixties

Is it just me or is it the truth...

It seems that more happened during the 60's than any other decade since.

... than all other decades since (almost).

I have to confess that I lump the first few years of the 70's in with the 60's because Viet Nam was such an overshadowing event spanning the two decades.

Maybe this seems true to me because it was such a ground-shifting event-rich decade that coincided with my 'Coming of Age'.

Of course, this is only for those who remember the 60's from a height exceeding cabinet level. :+

That was the prime grade big boy's prices aka Esso (yes Esso not Exxon), Shell and ARCO (wow, remember them???).

When I was in college during the late 60's/early 70's, I was a gas jockey and the price at our stations was 26 cents a gallon! Of course I worked for a company called, and I kid you not, HOMOCO!!! :7

And I remember pleading with my parents for "gas money" because it was so damn expensive.

I recall them all, even HOMOCO. I also recall Standard, Pure, and Sunoco.

Cars wouldn't run on regular gas. That was for lawnmowers, oh and the chevette which sounded more like a washing machine. :P

At first Totally Oz and KYTOP was making me feel old from the post they did (LoL). Then I sat back and thought THANK GOD I was only 14 by 1969 so I was feeling a lot better then ;)

As a senior in high school, I could buy a gallon of gas ($.30) and a pack of cigarettes ($.30) at the Clark gas station and still have money for a McDonalds burger, fries and coke with change.

I am trying to think if I was alive in the 60's...

Man, you guys are old!!!!

:7 hehe (sorry TY, I learn respect for my elders from the twinks that I hang with,,, and you know how that goes! )

But since we are all getting nostalgic... the best thing about those days (and for me it's more the 70's) was LONG HAIR!

And thank God, it's coming back. Not just in Quebect anymore, but even in the good ole' US of A!!!!!

Did you give them gas money? :+
