Mexico law on same-sex unions

The local Assembly in Mexico City just adopted legislation to introduce same-sex civil unions, thus giving rights (including inheritance and such, but not adoption) to gay couples.

Of course, this is not (yet) marriage in the Dutch or Spanish sense, more something like the French establishment. Given the Federal system in Mexico, the scope of the new law is limited to Mexico City residents, but we must admit that it is a big step for the second largest Catholic country in the world.

Good for Mexico! }( When will we see this in the United States? x(

You already see it in the United States, it just depends on what part of the USA you are in, same as Mexico. When will we see it nationwide in the USA. Not in my lifetime unless the Supreme Court steps in, which seems very unlikely anytime soon.

Sadly too true. Fixing the Supremes will take 8 years of Hillary followed by 8 years of Barack. Or something equally drastic -- substitute your own names here. (Whoops -- here goes another political thread.)
