February 13, 200917 yr Active Members Springer never made it to New York but with City Opera nearly out of business and the Met crying poor mouth, I wonder which of them will try to bring Anna to Gotham in order to fill empty seats with new opera goers.
February 14, 200917 yr I'm a season ticket holder here in portland, and they almost always produce mainstream stuff. Too bad, this sounds like it would be a stitch. The one good thing about the portland opera is that they do one chamber opera a year. An entirely different experience to have these intimate operas in a very small venue!
February 14, 200917 yr til the Fat Lady Sings? That was no lady. (Lord, forgive me.) ...This looks too exquisite. I must try to get the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine to stage it. http://www.ogunquitplayhouse.org/ Their recurring star, the redoubtable Sally Struthers, would be perfect.
February 15, 200917 yr Anything is entertainment these days. I mean they ahve turned Shrek the movie into a musical on broadway. They took Lord of the Rings and brough it to the stage building a theatre for it. Julie Taymor of Lion King fame is turning Spider Man into a broadway musical/theatre spectacle. What happened to original productions they seem few and far inbetween!
