My nutritionist recommended this to make some veggie drinks. My aunt has cancer and she said that there are mixes that help with the side effects of cancer and gave me some recipes. But, these things are like 500 USD. Anyone used them, have one?

Quite a few on ebay as well if you want to spend the time.

Vitamix is just a very heavy duty, commercial grade blender. Many of the restaurants I have worked for use them behind the bar for making all those frozen drinks. If you are just going to be using it at home for a few times a day, I would say no need to spend that much. Just find a heavy duty home use blender.

Honestly, I overbought. I could have done just as well with a less expensive non-stainless unit. Its a great juicer. I highly recommend it. But, don't buy the Rolls Royce when a Ford Taurus will work just fine for you.

We have a Vitamixer-the thing is a tank a weighs about the same.

It will liqufy almost anything very quickly.The spigot at the bottom of the container is handy when making hot soups(my most common use)

I also use it to make flours out of rice and various grains-it is also wonderful for making nut butters.

I must confess I do not use it anywhere near the amount I use my 30 year old Waring blender.

If you will use it-get it.But it is an investment so think about lugging a very heavy kitchen gadget around with you.
