I am going to Berlin in early September. My guide mentions Blue Boy, Pinocchio, and Tabasco as "rent bars."

Any experience with these? Any advice?

The Gigolo club seems to have closed. Is there another brothel?

There is another hustler bar on Kalckreuthstrasse, Berlin 10777 just across from the Quentin Design hotel (in Schöneberg). I just can't remember the name, but I stayed at the Quentin hotel last time I visited Berlin. However, bear in mind that most of those places will be pretty quiet, most of the business being taken over to the Internet. I hope this helps.
