October 9, 200916 yr Appropriately for the date, the Matthew Shepard Law got through the House, and isn't expected to have any trouble in the Senate. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/09/us/politics/09hate.html?_r=1&hpw I'm not optimistic about how great a crimp the law will put in the hate-speech peddlers' screaming, but at least it's a nice gesture.
