Again, I think you have nailed it. He's a common media whore. Nothing more. Nothing less. Occasionally, like other media whores he'll dig something up of general interest to the public. But, not as the result of any plan to do so.

The problem, however, is that O'Keefe has somewhat destroyed an organization whose only crime was that it helped the poor and downtrodden. When the infamous ACORN videos first cropped up, Fox "News" and the conservative media ate it up and played the videos non stop. Those who didnt believe the heavily edited videos represented what actually happened called up O'Keefe to release the unedited footage which was refused. ACORN's reputaiton was damaged and Republicans in Congress worked tirelessly to have the group defunded.

As it turns out, the unedited videos showed that the whole scandal was a fraud, but too late to help ACORN.
