WTF on room rates

Featured Replies

I have been planning my return to Rio in May.. arriving on the 11th and departing on the 17th..Been watching air and hotels.. Just a couple of days ago, Agoda.com had the atlantico for 86$ USD.. today it is $160 for standard room.. What happened? why the sudden jump???? any ideas? I thought may was the end of "high season".. now looking at renting a two bedroom apartment (will be with my travel friend), but am nervous about renting an apartment sight unseen.. Could be like when you hire a stud escort and then open the door to a dud escort..

Any advise?

Expedia has a standard room listed for $107.

Best regards,

I looked around on various sites and saw the 107 rate too.. Thanks, RA..

I did find this ad on craigslist for a 2 bdrm apt near the Copacabana Palace hotel.. seems like a great deal but I am leery of booking it sight unseen.. anyone in Rio wanna check it out for me? http://rio.en.craigslist.org/vac/2204118434.html

I just checked Agoda.com who I use all the time and they had it for $167. and they usually are consistently the cheapest.

This won't help, but this past weekend, my friend and I had the two presidential suites on the rooftop for $200./nt U.S.! So everything is definitely negotiable!
