If memory serves, Columbus not only mirrors national demographics, it's also a relatively inexpensive and self-contained media market.

Before spending mega-millions on advertising for a national rollout, companies can get a pretty good idea if the ad campaign will bring in the customers. If it bombs, they're down only mega-thousands.

I expect the folks in Columbus see a lot of new products and new advertising that the rest of us will never hear about.
