I got a call yesterday from Nielson to tell me they want me to keep track of my tv watching for one week. Since it happens to be during the Australian Open, when it is being broadcast almost 24 hours per day live or on tape, the recording process should be easy. If this data gets stored permanently on a cloud, some future archivist will assume that all I ever watched was ESPN and the Tennis Channel. They won't realize that I was also an HGTV addict.

I wonder why they are still using Nielsen families for ratings? I know that cable companies can track viewing on cable boxes and there are so many of them why don't they just track and use that data. It seems that would be more accurate.
