So the idiot Dr. Keith Ablow on Fox News says that Gingrich's infidelity will make him a better President. That is a stretch to say the least. I think it shows what his character is all about especially since he left both his first two wives when they were very sick.

But given how marriage is not taken seriously by most straight people it seems, I suspect that everyone will forgive him except for the extreme religious right who may not.

Let's just say that I don't think they will make him a worse President. Did they really affect Roosevelt's abilities? Kennedy's? Or Clinton's? If he had just ignored Monica's seduction, he wouldn't have had the distraction from governing caused by the impeachment. At least Gingrich's activities are out in the open and (apparently) in the past; I don't think he would be stupid enough to play with White House interns--though one should never underestimate the stupidity of successful politicians.

Even the extreme religious right seems to think that adultery is not a disqualification for office any longer, at least not if it is in the past. They didn't forsake Ronnie for having an affair with Nancy while he was still married to Jane. They tended to overlook the serial marriages even of less charismatic figures like McCain and Dole. Of course, Newt has more marriages, and the exes are less inclined to stay quiet about him, but I don't think they are likely to be more than minor annoyances if he gets the nomination, much less if he is actually elected.
