Clubber

I know that Eric is no longer managing the properties. Does anyone know if they will have new management? When I walked by tonight I noticed that the restaurant was closed but the Clubber bar was open.

I hope they are able to come out of this slump as they really did a great job in beautifying the area.

GayButton, heard aything about a sale?

I don't think they really did anything to beautify the area. During the daytime hours it looks like any other shophouse. The lighting was to bright the outdoor seating always occupied by the manager and his entourage. They took the guest house in a direction that did nothing to improve the area and they destroyed the best outdoor bar seating in the process. But that being said I hate to see any business fail and if this goes under it'll leave just another set of empty buildings.

Perhaps someone will turn them into a kindergarten or junior school to make things easier for some of the farang residents and visiting teachers

Some retirees go to Thailand and out of need, vocation or boredom become teachers. It does not make them a paedophile. Some teachers who visit Thailand on vacation maybe pedophiles but I don't suppose all are as you suggest.

I think I read somewhere that you will retire here. I hope, if it is so, you don't get bored or get the calling to be a teacher.

I never suggested all retirees or teachers are pedos. If you take the trouble to read what I said instead of figuratively putting words in my mouth I did say "some of the farang residents and visiting teachers"

As for retiring there, no way! There are much better things to do in retirement than to be like a lot of the sad ex-pats who inhabit Pattaya and end up as drink-sodden, bitchy old Queens ;)

Gentlemen, we're not going to have this. Not on this message board. If anyone wants to engage in personal insults and battles, you'll have to do so by PM. I will get rid of any further insult trading.

Today I heard that Eric is going to open a restaurant of his own in a hotel, probably on Soi Yensabai, just outside of Sunee Plaza. I'm not sure which hotel, but I'm told he may be open as soon as the end of this week. I also hear that he intends to continue the nightly specials and will also be doing the barbecues.

I certainly intend to go as soon as I know he's open. I'm glad he's going into the restaurant business. I loved Clubber's when he was running it and I have a feeling I'm going to love his new restaurant.

I hope Eric does well with his restaurant. I will check it out in Feb when I am there.

Eric was a nice guy and I am sure anyplace he goes will be lucky to have him. I guess I thought he was the main guy at Clubber. Who are the owners? Are they Pattaya based?

I don't know the actual owner's name, but from what I understand he's based in Germany.

Google for cobracrest or cobracrest asia or atri-development (no its not me!!). They moved to switzerland. There you will the names. Eric only was manager and was fired because of problems with the brother of the owner (unpaid receipts).

Eric is a good guy. Always, even late at night, he would prepare a bratwurst for me no matter how late. Best of the best.

May I ask how you know just what happened? From what Eric tells me, he left because he chose to leave and was not fired. Either way, I don't think it's our business to get into this at all. The fact is that Eric is no longer with the Clubber group and there have been several stories floating around as to why and what happened. Only those directly involved know the real story, so let's not start posting rumors that may or may not be true.
