I am not a big fan of Samsung and I personally use only Apple products. I'm surprised that US jury members didn't make a fair judgment, however. Well many crazy things are going on in the US so I guess it's just a tough luck. Good thing is Samsung can stand on its own by its new line of products and they will survive this.

BTW, something like what was in John Grisham's novel, Runaway Jury, might have happened in the case but I doubt it. I am not sure, however, why the foreman was not dismissed during the jury selection and Samsung's lawyer team was not thorough in the selection process. Maybe they used most of their challenges so they had no choice to let him stay. If the foreman was indeed a product of Apple's attorneys (Very unlikely) it will make a block buster and I want to invest in the movie. I might write a tech fiction about it. Adam Smith are you interested as my partner?

That new line of products might not help Samsung much if Apple is successful in court with their request to ban there sale in the states. Remember those products are the majority of the goods that contain all the patent technology owned by Apple.

Apple may end up victorious in the long run, but I doubt it. I've been involved in high tech my entire career, and been involved in a lot of patent suites. Almost always, the only people who win are the lawyers.

Samsung has a huge amount of patents too, and eventually that will catch up with Apple, and they end up cross-licensing, and the whole thing will go away. At least that's my bet.

I personally hate patents. A fair idea which has, in practice, become a way to destroy innovation.

A system that was devised to promote innovation and protect inventor's interests became a system for the rich to manipulate to get richer and destroy innovation. But as I have said numerous times, time will take care of things and a new society will be born in the future where this can be prevented I hope. As for lawyers they can spend money on escorts and their numerous sex partners and luxury items. What they earn usually end up back to the society except so let them make more money.
