Helmut takes over Flamboyant Restaurant

Featured Replies

Helmut, formerly of Poseidon and Luxor has taken over the recently closed Flamboyant Restaurant in Jomtien Complex.

If the refurbishment, to make the ambiance more “cozy”, is complete they hope to open on 1st May.

That's one restaurant I have not yet tried. I don't know whether I should regret that or not, but now that Helmut will be taking it over, it's bound to be good. Pascal, of Casa Pascal, now runs the Poseidon restaurant and Helmut will be running Flamboyant.

Also, Hot Stone Grill and L'Olivier are both in Jomtien Complex and Mignon is right across the street from the complex. Meanwhile, both Continental Bakery and Linda's are in close proximity, both of which are my favorite breakfast places. Asia Moon, one of the most reasonable buffets is also in Jomtien Complex and they also do a great breakfast along with a great dinner. The famous Dick's Cafe is also there (same as the one in Bangkok).

In other words, Jomtien Complex has plenty of excellent places to eat and several gay venues are there, including Rock Hard go-go bar, Monty's, Bondi, and several others. There is also a Blind Masseur legitimate massage parlor in the complex.

In my opinion, those of you who have not spent any time in Jomtien Complex are missing some great venues and excellent dining.

Just this evening (Tuesday April 8) I met a friend for supper at Asian Moon only to find it closed. Boys in adjoining venues said it would be closed indefinitely???

I heard this evening that Asian Moon had been sold. Sorry to hear that Flamboyant was sold, I loved it. Oh well, this is Pattaya.....they come and they go......

I'm sorry if the reason Asia Moon is closed is because he just couldn't make it. It was a very good buffet at very reasonable prices, comparable to the White Night. Some of us who ate there would often remark, "How can he do it at this price?" Well, maybe he couldn't. I wish good luck to whoever bought it.

I forgot to mention that Simon's Fish & Chips is also located in that area. If you're a fish & chips lover, I think you'll really enjoy Simon's. You don't even actually have to go to Simon's to give it a try. That restaurant is included in the Door-2-Door menu.

Oh Goody I will be there on 1st May with some exciting friends, so we will be eating our way round Pattayas finest restaurants, this is a man who knows how to please........Good Food @ the right price, as you quite rightly say ATM wonderful atmosphere, and very Important, knows how to make his customers feel special. all sounds so easy, but not many achieve it, same as if you have handsome boys in Bars and clubs, the customers keep cumming back, but so few know this secret and if you have handsome boys, dancing, wow your make big money. simple? why cant they get the message, cant they see, most of those who have not got it, lost there money???

but so few know this secret and if you have handsome boys, dancing, wow your make big money. simple?

While that sounds simple, it really isn't. I know of many bars that had handsome boys and yet do not make money. I don't think many guys go into the business in Pattaya to make money. Maybe I am wrong on this. I think most that buy are not looking for an investment but more of a way to spend their time differently when they have retired to live in LOS. I am sure there is money to be made and that the money can be nice to add to a pension or retirement fund, but I see few very successful stories of the gogo bar owners really making good money. If they do, you are right, the most important thing is the handsome boys but also important is a trusted manager and mamasan as well as every day hands on operations of the owner. IMHO

I have looked into this for a few years and I will say that I have been tempted to open a bar myself. LOL I know it would be a loosing money proposition but when it might be a hell of a lot of fun. Instead of spending my money on banana boat rides, I would put it to good use refurbishing a place that I can never own and only rent. ;) LOL

I never liked the buffet at Asian Moon as much as the White Night one. White Night remains my favorite all-you-can-stuff-in-your-face-until-you drop place in town. Maybe it's all the cream sauces. Maybe it's the 24 day revolving menu. Maybe it's that I can roll myself afterwards right into my favorite bar

I drove past Helmut's new restaurant tonight. It is now called Pagoda and I was very surpised to see it open and full.
