July 10, 201412 yr Active Members I just read an article about "popcorn lung" which suggests that microwave popcorn chemicals release at temperatures below the boiling point of water a substance that affects one's lungs. The remedy is to wait until the bag has cooled before opening. Well, duh. As anyone who has opened a bag of microwave popcorn knows, your hands and other skin is subject to being burned by the hot air and other hot gases escaping. I like this remedy. The conclusion was that only the factory workers who are exposed to this chemical constantly are at any real risk but still, don't open that bag until it cools. Best regards, RA1
