August 23, 201412 yr Active Members Hopefully there will be an appeal and the initial rating gets revised. There have been several films from what I can find that have had successful appeals, mostly related to language. It does seem that the MPAA is fairly quick to slap an R-rating on movies because of language so the link to homophobia isn't necessarily clear.
